Check this out...

Whenever I've sent a cue, I've put in it in an additional carboard tube. But after seeing this, my new way will be : go to Home depot and get a 10 ft piece of Schedule 40 pvc. Cut it too length, get 2 end caps. If they can break that, they will have to have done something major to it. Regular pvc can still break, schedule 40 is hard, it's is a construction grade. I know they have even higher numbers such as schedule 80 and 160.

60 min

tv show 60 min did study on USPS FEDEX AND UPS.
dont write fragile on package. all packages with fragile stickers on them get beat up extra its a carrier thing.
usps was the best because they only beat up fragile packages a little bit.
its like my ups man he dont know how to ring door bell.:rotflmao1:
only open damage package in front of carrier take pics with carriers face in it.
cover your :kma:

It did have insurance...and it did have bubble wrap around each piece...

But based on the degree of abuse, the triangle box and bubble wrap did not prevent the prevent the damage.

I'll take it to the post office and see what they say...

Maybe in Nevada but the rest of the country USPS is way down the bottom of the list with damaged and destroyed packages, lets not even get into lost and/or stolen packages. They have got noticeably worse over the past 12-24 months to where I will never use them for any package, if I have to send a letter I always take a copy of what I am sending because they are that bad.

The safest way IMHO is to use PVC Pipe and then put that inside a shipping tube. Ship the package using UPS, if going fairly local go Ground, if you are shiping longer distance use '3 Day Select' at a minimum, or preferably 2 Day or Next Day. Always pay the extra insurance, make sure you have copies of any invoices and take pictures of what you are shipping, it always helps with any claim.

USPS = United States Pisspoor Service - Operations Motto
USPS = U Stupid People Suck - Customer Service Motto

I NEVER SHIP USPS almost always UPS. PVC Tube and cue wrapped inside than fill with shredded paper. Tape both ends up real tight and ship!!

I have shipped a ton of cues and case's and have had one mishap with the USPS. I sent two cues to a cuemaker friend of mine in Florida and when the tube arrived it was empty. One was a Balabushka......Adams replica, haha and the other was a Meucci. Not the most expensive two but a pain none the less. The GB7 I think it was belonged to a friend and he made out like a bandit when the insurance paid off. The Meucci was mine and I got more than I paid for it. It sucks filing a claim but thats what its there for.

Well, I couldn't disagree with you guys more about USPS. Been using them pretty much exclusively for years without issues. Maybe we're just in a good region, who knows. Can't beat the cost and reliability imho, and good customer service if you know how to access it. This thread just goes to show, though, you've got to be extra diligent with packaging.....and then sometimes that may not be enough.

Wow! sorry to here what happened.

Im also one of the few that havent had any issue with USPS (sending & receiving) (knock on wood).
I always write the word FRAGILE all over the shipping case/tube whenever I ship a cue out (at least priority & fully insured). And I always package a cue like I was sending it to me (with complete care, not because it's sold you shouldnt give a damn anymore).

One other thing I notice is people like to reuse boxes. Once it has a crease, throw it out it can only get worse. Plus extra pack it, tube in a tube, whatever you have to do.

I to have had very good luck with USPS, only one small incident. Another thing all of the UPS fans may not realize is that many, many UPS packages are delivered by the USPS, go figure. It's funny the protection people expect out of a pool cue case to protect their cue, but once they sell that cue they put in a cardboard box and mail it, lol.

My other hobby is collecting firearms. Everyone gives me crap about buying a high dollar gun and putting it in a $20 Walmart case.

Sorry about the troubles.
