Which wood is the best for cuemaking if you want a bright red color? Trying to stay away from staining, just a naturally "RED" color is prefered...I have 2 different bloodwood cues and neither is very red...

I may be wrong but I don't think there is anything naturally cherry pie red. Blood wood is probably the closest, but bois de rose can be a nice dark maroon red.

Not a good choice if you're looking for red. BdR, once finished, will more often than not, go to a dark black cherry color...looking almost exactly like ebony from a fairly short distance.

You may find a red rosewood, or I have even seen some purpleheart that went pretty red. I have seen some dark pink ivory do similar. Bloodwood is still a good bet, it's just finding the right piece...it seems it's always about finding the right piece....at least for me...LoL. Call the folks at Prather...they hooked me up when I was looking for that special piece of wood for my cue. :yeah:
