What effect does the ferrule actually have on the performance of a shaft. I recently purchased a shaft and the ferrule has chips in it. Looks like possibly from a tip change but I don't really know. Is this going to effect the performance of the shaft or is it strictly a cosmetic issue? Thanks for the info.

Also, if its something that needs to be addressed what would you say the average cost is to have the ferrule replaced? Thanks again
 
It now has lower deflection. :D
If there is no gap between the tip and the face of the ferrule, I don't it affects anything unless it has a hairline crack you don't see.
$15-30 for normal ferrules is about the going rate.

LOL Thanks. I didn't notice any gaps or cracks. To be honest I didn't get a chance to look at since I was heading out the door to work. I'll get a better look when I get home. Thanks again

Really? That would be a good thing if so. I've never seen that before so I wouldn't know what it looked like. It's definitely on there pretty good, I couldn't scrape it off with a fingernail. It felt like there was part of the ferrule missing but it could be the difference in thickness from ferrule to glue. I wondered why it would be blue beneath the ferrule:confused:. So how do I get it off?

Why don't you give it to a cuemaker to clean up for you. It's cheap and you'll probably have more confidence and hence play better!!

Looks like someone used a mickey mouse tip tool and scarred the edge of the ferrule . If you sand it out it will be a pencil shape . Live with it or pay to change it out . The old LBM material chips real easy . Good luck ...:cool:;)
