Choices for Custom Cue.......Need recommendations!

I am in the process of deciding on a cue maker to make my first Custom Sneaky. My funds are limited therefore I am spending only around $300 so of course that limits my Cue maker choices as well. I really want one built to my specs and not wanting to buy one that was made for someone else. This will give me the feeling of.....this cue was made for me! So here's what I would like some recommendations on.
1. I really like the look of the butt and sleeve being ALL BEM with a few joint and butt rings of another wood. Is this a smart choice as far as feel and a good solid hit or would other wood choices be a better choice such as Cocobola into BEM?
2. I want a wood to wood joint so what's the best joint choice? Isn't a joint that I could use different shafts with later on the best choice?
I am more concerned with good, solid playability than looks but really would like a cue built with those few specific specs.
Again, I know my budget is slim but tell me what u think as far as my choices and any other configuration u would recommend.
Thanks for reading and all feedback appreciated.....:help:

I think you're going to be hard pressed to find many cue makers who will make one for $300. However, you could probably find some used in the Wanted/For Sale section.

And sneaky is made from a full splice blank. What u had described sounds more like a pj or merry widow. I could be mistaken but when u mentioned a birdseye "sleeve" u probably mean forearm. Before ordering something u may want to have your terminology straight so get what you're envisioning.

That being said, your budget would limit your choices tremendously. U can perhaps try Schmelke.

Yes I did mean forearm, just typed it out in a hurry. Thanks.....

We can do it, but we get $450 for what you're talking about. You can find some VERY nice used cues in that range.

Honestly, with what you want, I would try/buy 5-10 used cues over a time period. Try them out. When you find one that you like, then commission from that builder. That's what I did, but I got lucky, and he's right in my backyard. Now I work with him.

Good luck sir!
