Someone should find Nick Mannino, his description of that time/place would be Very interesting, I think Nick got one game.
Side story here. Probably around 1999 a guy came into the pool hall I worked at the time. Played me a few games on the house table, said he was in town for his daughter, forget where he said he was from. He had two Eddie Anderson sneaky petes with cueball ferrules. He told me he was a pro, was in the chair against Earl when he won the million. He said his name was Nick Mannino and recounted what he witnessed that day as we banged balls around. He wasn't looking for a game, just killing some time.
I never heard of him, I could tell he was off his game, but had "that stroke" that said this guy has been at another level at some point, but I thought the stories were BS. I wrote it off for a few days until I looked up who played Earl in that match and it was Nick.
I remember his cues all these years later but I'll be damned if I can remember his story of the event. Never saw him again.
