CJ Wiley's New Video Series on AZBILLIARDS -7Cs to Playing Your Best Pocket Billiards

And, some "get it" a lot more than you realize, but choose not to say anything more about it because it may help some on here. If it doesn't, it will readily be found out and dismissed. There are requirements to using CJ's way that were never discussed on here, yet are VERY applicable. So, just because some disagree doesn't necessarily equate to "they just don't get it". ;)

Hello Neil,
Man where have you been? I missed you on AZB. Glad to see you posting again. CJ does have a good thread here.
Many Regards,
Lock N Load.

im looking forward for your vids :)

but actually i wanted to thank you for your great input here on AZ, it seems since you are posting here the standart of the threads is going up

keep your good work up

Getting to the True Inner Wisdom by Breathing

This is already good stuff; a general request from me would be to get into the "both sides" of the equation. I know we should be focusing on what we should be doing and not what we should not be doing but if you tell us what we should not be doing it may help (I know it will for me) to identify those things and more easily "popup squash" those things; I hope I don't sound crazy.

I think it's best to simply focus on "Playing Well"....I used to, when the "voices" would come into my head during, a highly intense match just tell myself "PLAY WELL" and I may repeat that a few times. I think it's ideal to think of nothing, but that is very challenging. Anapana Meditation is a very good way to practice this because you ONLY observer your breathing. The highest levels mentally require you to, not "add on" mentally,on the contrary to "take away"....it's a process of stripping away "thoughts/ideas/beliefs" to get to the true inner "Wisdom".....Amen

Hi CJ, I think it's great that you are willing to help us out. I wish there were more that were willing to share their expertise with us less than fortunate individuals

Here are my questions:

Connection -- When behind in a match or when someone is firing back at you, what do you do and how do you do it, to keep from completely falling apart? I know this is mental but any help would be appreciated.

Cue Tip English -- Any help on banking, short and long rail. When and why or how to use English. When not to.

Control -- What part does the body play in controlling the cue ball?

Center -- When and why to use inside English and please explain the 3 part pocket system. Does this just mean the left/right/center part of the pocket?

Consistency -- Could you explain your PSR? Would you walk me through what you do?

Thanks CJ

Specific questions on the 7Cs Video Series?

This is really helpful to me THANKS.....I will answer a few of these later, and will demonstrate a few in my Video Series as well. This is exactly what I'm looking for if anyone has any other Specific questions like these. All of these answers are going to be helpful to some extent to a wide range of player's styles and skill levels....Thanks again dougster, CJ

trigger

What kind of trigger, maybe post hypnotic suggestion, do you use get yourself into the zone quickly. Are you able to consciously think or the shot you see and direct your subconscious mind to fulfill that thought?

More information on your idea of making the pocket play larger.

When you first come to the table what is your thought process.

Concentration & Consistency.

I frequently start out shooting great, but somehow lose focus after a short time. I would like to extend the "great" time.

respectfully disagreeing with someone

Nice answer, dont let negative replies get to you most of AZ and I can learn from that for sure.

I think there's a tactful way to disagree with others....I'm not expecting anyone to except what I say just because of my accomplishments, and I also don't think it's professional to disrespect anyone that's trying to share, even if you strongly believe they "may" be incorrect. I don't agree with the guy you mentioned, and I want to give him the respect to convince me otherwise....I may learn something in the process...Aloha  CJ

Control - If you need to use outside english for the means of control, how do you get it to work combined with the 3 part pocket system?

Center - how do you aim for the right part of the pocket if you don't use contact points, or do you use them?

Creativity - How to Create Angles and Improve Shot-making Skills? This is the question :)

Consistency - I WOULD LOVE to know your PSR, but every step of it described in detail, where is your front foot, back foot, dominant eye (or vision center), AND when your body is set up, HOW do you approach CB? Where exactly to put the bridge hand?

I have a lot more questions, but I would like to ask them later, maybe video will answer them :)

Questions are in the quote ^ :)

What Mirza said! These are excellent questions...another one I'd add in general is whether you prefer BHE, FHE or parallel English? How do you determine which one?

if you go "lazily" through the ball you will not like the outcome

Questions are in the quote ^ :)

Great questions and I do cover them in my new DVD that I'm finishing up and I will address them on here as well. The thing about outside english is the speed of the shot MUST be less to give the english a chance to "grab and throw" is how I "feel" it....so, the firmer you hit it the more you have to spin it to get the same effect. That's why I prefer using the "touch of inside" and not spinning it because I only have to make one calculation since it will always over cut the object ball. Either way, the key is to focus on acceleration, if you go "lazily" through the ball you will not like the outcome.

The big key lessons to me are the perfect angle, to split the pocket up and throw the cue ball the same way every time. I already play the same speed, and this would be really big for me. Thank you C J.

I completed my part of the video filming on Friday and we've been in post production this weekend.....it appears like there's another week of Post Production and then it will go "to press" to be duplicated and shrink rapped....this could take another 2 weeks and that would put the DVD's ready to go out the third week in October.

I realize this is a little late. But I had to ask.
I've always noticed that your grip is a very distinct grip and it appears that you stroking hand/wrist is always cocked forward, even on your backswings.

Would you care to elaborate about this unique grip of yours?

I get better results starting with the follow through in mind

It's a tennis grip is from playing tournament tennis AS I was developing as a young pool player. http://forums.azbilliards.com/blog.php?u=64222&page=7 I show this grip and how it's made in my video, and the best way I can describe it is to get a hammer and some nails....hold the hammer as it's comfortable and actually hammer a few nails noticing how your wrist is working to create centrifugal force in the contact point of the hammer (relate to the contact point on your cue - the tip). Pick up a cue and try to feel the same sensation in your hand as you did with the hammer. Feel what it's like to have centrifugal force applied to your cue tip. Experiment with that.

I pre set my wrist more forward because I get better results starting with the follow through in mind....just shoot an imaginary shot, then stand up and keep the angles and tension you were in (as close to it as reasonable) and feel what it's like to start your stoke like this. I don't advise making big changes in what you're already doing, but sometimes a subtle one will help you get to the "next level" ...doing the same things often won't.
