Just got this yesterday. This is my second cue by Wayne and I couldn't be happier. The quality and finish are amazing. Ivory Hoppe ring and Ivory joint came out great, I love the classy look and style and its simplicity with the straight grain maple forearm. I've played with quite a few well known cue makers and seen plenty more, there is no doubt in my mind that Wayne Holmes is the most underrated cue maker out there today. I enjoy working with Wayne because he's never afraid to give an opinion or some constructive insight. He communicates well and always responds. Plain and simple he's just easy to work with and puts quality first. Might be hard to tell but its a white with green spec wrap. Not the best pics but the best I could do for now.

Wayne is a gentleman. As you say, ordering a cue from him is a very easy experience. His communication is second to none. Check out the cue on the front page of his website, that was ordered by BPPPA (our UK Pool association) President, Ted Bristow. What a cue!! That really showcases what Wayne can do.
 
Excellent.....simply excellent!!!

Having bought 4 cues from Wayne, myself....to include my first custom cue ever...I can honestly say he's one of the nicest guys in the world...and makes an extremely incredible cue. WAY UNDERRATED, in my opinion.

He's doing recuts now, which is awesome, and really puts together a fantastic player, for sure!!

Congrats on the new cue, sir. I have faith you'll be thrilled with it!!
 
Thanks guys, I doubt I'll ever sell the cue, its my second Wayne and both hit like a dream, and I've hit my fair share of highly touted cues. I don't know what it is about his work but its such a even responsive hit and feel, I just can't explain it, feels like the cue is part of my arm or hand rather than a tool. The fatter points are what I was really after and he nailed it.

Wayne e-mailed me this tidbit on the Coffee wood used for the points I found it pretty interesting

Lapacho, or ipe as it is also commonly referred to as, is an unbelievably durable and hard wood species. This species is very resistant to decay and termite and dry insect attack. Just like concrete and steel, it even has a Class 1 UBC (uniform building code) fire rating. Along with its extreme hardness, strength, weight, density, and durability, lapacho is also one of the most stable woods available. However, it is important to "over-dry" the wood in a kiln to avoid excessive shrinkage when installing. Janka Hardness: 3684 "

As the description states, it is also commonly called "Ipe", but to me doesn't have the same look in the grain. One thing for sure, IT IS HARD STUFF! Janka Hardness Rating of 3684 is real high. For reference, Ebony is 3220.
