Cleaning Simmonis Cloth

To clean 860 or 760 Simonis all you have to do is brush the cloth everynight and use a microfibre towel sold at your local Walmart. Get it slightly wet and wipe the table down. You want to do this at night when your finished so it will be dry for the next day.

spot on!!... but if you havn't cleaned for a while use a suction vacuum only first not one that has swirling brushes as you will break down the fibers of the cloth!! also the small "spots" on the table are mostly from the balls jumping up, landing and then crushing the cloth slightly in that spot. it's hard to completely get them out but one trick is to press down with the slightly water soaked microfiber cloth over them and force a small amount of water into the spots, just be real careful and don't press so hard around the slate seems. when the table dry's it will be clean and it will raise the cloth grain on the crushed parts enough to make the cloth look more uniform.

Most people in this thread seem to agree their vacuum doesn't damage their cloth. But I was told by one of my table mechanics that it's not damaging the cloth fibers that you should be worried about when using a vacuum, it's the fact that the vacuum tends to grab the cloth and stretches it. Therefore making the entire cloth loose on the table after time.

I just wonder if the people who are vacuuming frequently have loose cloth?

Tim, it is a concern of course. I vac my table once a week or so but the thing is, to use a vac head that larger with more sq. inches and be sure it has a stationary brush under it so that the full suction of the vac isn't able to pull on the table easily. In other words, a slight space between the brush and table lets the air in between the cloth and head.

Lots of vacuums have an air bleed on them as well so as to adjust the strength of the suction.

We vacuumed our tables in our pool room nightly and never had an issue. Just be aware of the possibility of pulling on the cloth when you do it.

Another tool I use as an interim cleaner is a dog hair roller. :)

I also have used rubbing alcohol mixed with water in a mist spray bottle. Lightly mist it on the cloth and wipe it off with a low lint cloth. The alcohol helps evaporate the liquid.

Like Joe I've used the Dirt Devil Ultra w/the revolving brush for several years. I did use it daily but I've gone to alternating methods. I switch from the vacumn to Quick Clean w/the microfiber sponge, to a horsehair brush, to a water dampened cloth and back to the vacumn. No particular pattern just mixing it up.
