Cleaning the cue ball while out at the hall

JT in FL now
I shoot pool at home on Diamond pro-am and at the hall on gold crowns. At home I try to keep the pool balls clean but probably don’t throw them in the bucket cleaner quite often enough. I do notice the game get easier after I clean them and not just talking about for first 5 games or so when the slide is exaggerated (easier to move the rock, predict and slide in for a while). When I play at the hall they take good care of the tables and balls but often I will shoot for 8hrs or so. I was just thinking to myself maybe I should bring a rag with some ball cleaner just to hit the cue ball up after some time since it seems to make such a noticeable difference. Does anyone do this and obviously if I am playing sets or league this could become issue but probably could just do it right before a set or before league starts. Anyways I will probably get flamed but just curious if anyone does this. Thinking a rag with just some remnants of cleaner still on it might liven the ball back up.

What product are you using to clean the balls? There should not be any slide to them when they are freshly cleaned.

I wipe down the cue ball after every rack. Usually just a dry cloth, but if it's getting a lot of marks, maybe a damp cloth. I don't play in a league or tournaments so I don't know what the rules might be there.

I only use aramith cleaner or right now I have chem pak ball cleaner no home remide stuff we dont need go down that rabbit hole

JT4, Howdy;

Might ask the Hall before you use something that may not be compatible
with whatever it is that they use.
They might say just bring it to the counter and we'll clean it for ya. chuckle.

I wish they would install something like a golf ball cleaner but sized for a pool ball. If a ball gets dirty put it in ball cleaner, pump handle up and a few times and dry it off with towel hanging on cleaner.

I wouldn't put cleaner on the rag. Maybe a sandwich sized ziplock bag with a few drops of Aramith ball cleaner.

I have never once felt the need to clean the balls during any length session. I think when I was younger I used to play without ever cleaning the balls. Maybe once a year. They never seemed dirty, but the table had a rug on it that did get brushed regularly. So maybe that’s why.

Even now I’ll go a month or two of regular playing without ever cleaning them or even wiping them off. I don’t see any difference except the cue ball has more marks on it. I do use gray chalk at home which might be why The scuffs aren’t that noticeable.
