Why would a production cue companies put a clear finish on their shafts ?

They are sticker then hell and the shaft has a wobble in it and I am afraid to try to straighten using heat or steam.

I've only seen finish go up to maybe an inch past the joint on a shaft, are you sure it's a clear finish and not just a sealer and burnishing?

I have seen/used a few shafts that had to be boken in a bit to get a good feel but never have I seen one with an actual clear spray on it, outside of the fiberglass stuff and maybe a few house cue models.

Its a clear finish on a mid ranged priced Lucasi cue and the shaft is warping !

The clear finish looks the same as the Cue tec sst shafts................. Thick

Spin it with some Wet Dry paper #320,600,1500 & 2000 then take a brown paper bag to it.

Garbage is gone. Now about that warp. I have fixed many warped shafts. Not toast like some think. Trade secret so please do not ask.

-Late,

cues

Just got off the phone with Lucasi cues , Even thou they say all their cues come with a life time warranty this one doesn't :(

The cue has the roman numerals on the but of the cue and it was made in the early 2000.
Which means No warranty.

MMike zero production cues makers 6.

Yep.. I fix warped shaft every day as well. From very minor 'roll-outs', to full blown warped ones.. And the fixes stay fixed.

Trade secret? Wow. Must be impressive. I used a slightly damp cloth and a hot iron. Then over flexed on a pool table. Once it was straight, I left it for the day. It took a few applications, but when I was finished the warps were virtually gone. Maybe slight taper roll at best. Ferrule and tip remained on the table when I rolled it. I mentioned warps earlier because this shaft was warped in two places. Worst I ever seen. I actually think it played better too when I was done. Lol.
