Cliff Joiner/wade Crain Killer One-pocket

I bought these DVD's directly from Cliff on eBay. Honestly, I expected a little more, but they were still decent. The first one is all about the break: what to look for in the rack, getting out of the break, etc. The second is Cliff playing himself with Crane commentating and asking questions at the table, and it actually does a half-decent job of taking you through Cliff's thought process. The third is all end game shots, most of which haven't been shown in an instructional before.

A couple of other notes....I've heard people say Crane is terribly boring to listen to. I didn't think he was that bad, although he is pretty monotone. His instructional he came out with 15-20 years ago is FAR more boring, and I think those who have seen it might let that influence them a little.

Also, Cliff and Wade aren't the best at explaining what they're trying to do. At times, Cliff looks a little uncomfortable trying to explain things, while at other times he seems very comfortable. Crane doesn't seem uncomfortable, although he stumbles through his explanantions from time to time. They don't really get into the details the way Grady, Incardona, or Kinister might.

Overall, I'd say these are a worthy buy, as long as you're not too new to the game. For a beginner, it would be more worthwhile to get some lessons, get a solid foundation for their one-pocket game, then move on to this material.

Well done, MHarris. Very well worded, very useful and fair. Rep for you.

Thanks Hemi.

I accidentally left something else out definitely worth noting, too. Along with the DVD's, Cliff sent a handwritten note saying if I had any problem situations that I could fax him a diagram and he'd fax back a solution. That's a great service that I hope I get the chance to use. Cliff asks for nothing in return, and I think that speaks volumes for him.

wow does that apply to all customers. i've been looking for some instructin on 1 pocket. i've been trying to beat this guy i know. is there a link to where we can get these dvds?

I bought the first set when it came out at the DCC. It was absolutely terrible. This first set was done without editing and then they sent a second set which was edited. Much, much better. Yes, Wade does have a monotone and is very repetitive. Wade explains his shot choices first which are very aggressive, 9-ball like. Then Cliff shows another option which is aggressive but has a defensive side to it. The lighting and room layout is great, the camera work a little better than just good.

I didn't get the note from Cliff about fax'ing situations for his response. If someone has the address---I would appreciate it.

Overall---this is worth the money. I'm going to look at it again.

learned alot bout the break .never knew about a loose grip on a one pocket break. helped a whole lot. possibly a ball or 2. learned some valuable shots in volume 3. have to go over them several times to fully understand what cliff is doing. would like to see some more strategy one pocket in the future.

I bought the DVD off of ebay. I learned a lot about the the break and instructional shots. Most important I began to understand some of Cliff's thought processes. I don't think that Cliff will probably win any awards for his acting ability, but I guess you don't have to worry about it when you're as good as he is.

I also got a handwritten note that said to let him know if I had any questions which I thought was pretty nice.

Care to elaborate on the loose grip? Thanks

Great answer; i thought it was poorly organized and filmed but i am use to accustats. I thought #3 was great but seemed like it was rushed to finish in some time frame; depending on your skill, great shots but no ability to see them as the camera was sometimes in the wrong position too often. I was glad to see that Mr. Crane didn't trip over the cord that was giving him trouble. I don't know Cliff but will soon and encourage him to do more as his knowledge should be shared; i would buy more but was disapointed but easy to criticize. Keep going guys; one thing among many i would suggest is rather than Wade trying to explain to the viewer which pocket was Cliff's over and over, put the cue down and mark the pockets as Cliff switched roles.
