Just double-checked this. The way I had it originally was correct. According to the Grammarbook.com:To be sure, you have double quotes contained within double quotes, which is confusing. Should be single quote within a double quote if you are quoting someone.![]()
Good points. It's like the difference between the guy just holding his hand out on the street corner vs the crew washing cars or baking cookies to raise the monies they need.
Lou Figueroa
People don't pay good money Lou to drive hundreds of miles , Get an expensive room , Watch the monitors in the luxury of their room for 10 day's to watch for the time's of their favorite beggars matches.........................

Just double-checked this. The way I had it originally was correct. According to the Grammarbook.com:
Rule 5
Use the colon to introduce a direct quotation that is more than three lines in length. In this situation, leave a blank line above and below the quoted material. Single space the long quotation. Some style manuals say to indent one-half inch on both the left and right margins; others say to indent only on the left margin. Quotation marks are not used.
Example:
The author of Touched, Jane Straus, wrote in the first chapter:
Georgia went back to her bed and stared at the intricate patterns of burned moth wings in the translucent glass of the overhead light. Her father was in “hyper mode” again where nothing could calm him down.
He’d been talking nonstop for a week about remodeling projects, following her around the house as she tried to escape his chatter. He was just about to crash, she knew.
Mike, I would call Cliff an acquaintance more than I would call a buddy. He is a person I have be acquainted with a long time. We have never what you would call hung out. But I do like Cliff and a lot of other players. Some, not so much. And do you know what else. I Liked St.Louis Louie to. One of the most personable players ever, (WAIT)..
He was famous for the so called bite also. If you ever got (so called) bit by Louis, You got bit by the best. So likeable a lot of people almost died of bites!!!!Until you have been there and done that,(Quit knocking the pool player, He is a working man) .
Most people don't have the balls to attempt this line of work, Considering now day's pool players won't bet fat meat's greasy. I have bet my own, Bet High, Against the best especially in the1980"s and early 90's.
I have also worked all my life, So I challenge anyone to tell me making a living on the road is not a job. Unfortunately, There is and has been no security to this line of work. IIt was compared to TiddlyWinks by a billiard forum know it all earlier while at the same time making light of the people who are the best at what they do. So anyone that thinks a road veteran does not pay his dues. Come and tell me that. And I will say what I believe. 1 Hardest Job= Pro Pool Player. #2 Every other job. I will defend what I think is right. Gary
Gary... WOW.. You just solved one of pools hardest riddles.
There is no way a pool player can make a living at pool when all their winnings go the the "dentist" to keep those teeth sharp for the next "bite".
LOL
PS..Hardest job... Our military defending our rights to have discussions like this.
Don
I see that making light of the struggling Pro players on here is a daily ritual by some of you, The scary part. I program the Drones in the U.S. HaHa!!!!!!!!!!!
And I see that defending struggling Pro players on here is a daily ritual for you.

No it isn't Don, As a matter of fact you can see that I have just recently started posting on a couple of different threads some of my opinions. I didn't realize the pool related uneducated post's on these threads. I am not here to prove how complete ignorance seems to go on and on. When a lot of you post it speak's for it's self.
I understand Clff didn't even come and ask for anything, A friend of his I guess did. What I do think when very simple minded people come on this forum and belittle the Pro Pool player, I get a little offended.
You guys remind me of when I was about 13 or 14 , Guys like you makes me think about when I would go into the local pool room, It was ran by the late Don Rose, Great 3 cushion and straight pool player. He went on and moved to Phoenix, And I went on at 13 years old waiting .
for Friday to get here. Always got excited about Fridays. Because I would be there by 6pm waiting to get your paycheck, And thet is why you, Lou and long list's of others don't like us . It sure was fun at a young age making suckers of you..........Have a nice day. Gary Lutman
Complete ignorance? We can go round and round about "what it means" to be a "pro" player. You will lose that battle every time, if you think it means a free shot at handouts because "it's a hard life". You know what a real "hard life" is? It's waking up every day, dragging your butt out of bed, going to a mediocre job so that after bills you can afford to do something little like take a significant other to a movie.
A "hard life" is not hanging out all freakin day long at a pool hall, wondering who's going to donate to you or coming on a pool forum that you don't even post on and asking for free money. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Oh, I almost forgot.. if you're programming drones like you say, then pull out that wad of government money and back Cliff.
I have Brumback's DVD, Da Beard's DVD, Joe Tucker's DVD, donated recently to a few good causes here, paid to watch a match at the TAR studio and I put my own money up when I gamble locally. You've convinced me, though, that I won't donate to a freeloader. BYE!
Are you asking me if I know what it is like working ?

No, I'm telling you that I won't sit here and let you try to pull the "woe is me/them" because they choose to play pool. It isn't like it's a freakin secret that there are no benefits and no vacation time. You're asking for pity and respect at the same time for a group of people that consistently make horrible choices and spend their money like there's no tomorrow. It isn't like "the man" is holding them down. THEY are holding them down. Yet you and he still have the nerve to try to insult the forum members he's trying to pull the cash from.
Maybe I should ask for money for my next tournament. After I make some money playing, I should come back and ask yet again.
By the way, you never did answer my question, I think.
If Cliff was given the money, even if he won, how much longer do you think it would be before he was back asking for money again?
Probably not long, It is ashamed the Pro's have to be in this position. Cliff is the Calvin Peete of pool. It does suck having the God given talent. Why me, Why me !!!!!!!!!
QUOTE=houmatroy;4182705]Iook...Cliff's not looking for a gambling stake...He is looking for a shot at the tournement...He is still a dangerous horse with a shot in any tourny he enters...I've heard all the stories & witnessed a few first hand but in this case it's betting on a horse at the horse race...If you like his chances bet..if you don't pass...all the other stuff can be saved for another day and another dicussion...I watched cliff in New Orleans run $300 into almost 20k and blow it all back playing craps...Most people would have never give themselves the chance to get 20k up much less blow it back...people like Cliff need a money responsible person pulling the strings...I've been on both sides the fence & gambling & tournements are 2 diff beast altogether...justr my 2 cents.
