I know Cliff is an outstanding player I'm watching him on the streaming match up right now and he still has that hitch in his stroke. Can anyone tell me what the advantages to this is, or is just bad form/bad habit? I know there was some talk about it at the DCC last year when he started with it. I watched him play a 10 ball match vs SVB and he wasnt shooting like this at all? Just wondering whats up with it.

was he playing one hole. he may stroke certain shots differently playing one hole, esp those shots that are 100% dependant upon cb movement and no need to pocket an ob.

That's the new stroke that Cliff has patented . It's called "Da Business Man Stroke":rotflmao1: :killingme:

i noticed this while watching cliff play in Dallas in person.

I actually tried mimicking this technique when I was having some trouble with my stroke and it seemed to help. I don't use this stroke regularly, but what it did was prevent me from getting caught in too much of a rhythm on my stroke. I often find myself practice stroking in a rhythm before my shot and trying to subconsciously let my stroke go through in between these rhythm loops. It prevents me from being more deliberate with my stroke and when I find myself doing this, I will try and put that cliff hitch into it to correct myself

This kind of comes and goes with Cliff and has for the past 6-7 years. Cliff pays much more attention to machanics than many think.

His stroke ain't the prettiest ever, but when he is on, it is miighty effective.

About 4 years ago here in San Antonio he was matched up giving a guy here 14-4, took intentional scratches and made the craziest strok shot I ever saw to go 17 and out. The other guy didn't look at his own side of the table for 4 more games and then quit. I wish I could set the table up here to show you all, but can't.

We talked about it when he was here for a month earlier this year. It is not intentional, he has a shoulder problem and started having trouble pulling the trigger between the pain and has just been struggling with it for a while. However, it is amazing how good he can still play with that hitch when he is on, too bad he is so well known any decent player would jump on that stroke in a minute.

Yup......periodic shoulder pain. Doesn't seem to go away, bad sign. Maybe arthritis. Deffinately one of my favorite players.
