Closed Bridge Cue Slider

Anyone make their own or have someone who makes them other then The Slider? Temp made one last night out of the finger from my glove for closed bridge. Like it better than a glove and less people thinking I'm one of those "glove" guys. I've always played open bridge but recently notice how much better my accuracy and spin is with closed bridge on power spin shots due to cue more level at lower horizontal angle with table so want to buy or make some. Seen Corey Duel using one so that's where I got the idea to try

i tried one of those corey doodads and it was uncomfortable to use imo. PJ was correct on the bridge deal, type of bridge doesn't matter. A lot of top players these days use open bridge for virtually every shot.

what dont you like about the slider sold by the drill instructor?

A temporary one is just part of a paper towel wrapped around the cue. Perfect for bar use if you forgot to bring your 300 sandpaper.

Are your hands sweaty?

300? No.

But even at 320, that's a very easy way to ruin a good shaft.

Hopefully you mean with it turned over from the grit side.

That's a stroke issue. The bridge shouldn't matter.
Could be that he does not hold his hand properly for a closed bridge.

The proper way is that 2 fingers and a thumb should all touch the shaft equally and as lightly as possible.
The shaft needs to be clean as a whistle, and you can drag it across the talc cube 3 times (per week).
Keep your hands clean (wash once an hour and dry thoroughly)

As the shaft gets larger towards the butt, the change in diameter is taken up by the flexibility of the skin.
You should be able to push and pull the shaft though your closed bridge with less than ¼ oz of force.

There are just as many "glove guys" where I have played as natural players.
IMO, the sliders look worse than the gloves.

My cue has been wearing a glove finger for years. It slides to a tight fit on the butt side of the joint and relaxes to a loose slide for the stroke. So I leave it on the butt end. It works just as well with the open bridge that I predominantly use. Plus it works great for the shots where I want to lay the cue on the rail with the bridge holding it from above. The work gloves with nitrile dip grip from Home Depot are my source for fingers. At least six usable fingers from a pair. A pack of 3 pairs is $6.67. The nitrile on my open bridge grips the hand and the cue slides freely through.🤷
I went with the finger because I shoot with either hand.

Thats what I was going to suggest. Get a pair of small brown Jersey gloves and you will have 10 cue slides. :):)

Use an old pair of underwear. You wrap the undewear around your hand and slide the
cue through the peepee hole. If you're ambidextrous just turn them inside out. I've been using
the same pair for 37 years.
Women must make a slight incision.
All these years youze guys play pool and still don't know nuttin....... Sheesh

But but, if I put my underwear on the cue, what do I put on my head?🤷

0000 Steel wool and a little bowling alley wax if you're feeling adventurous.
I believe Randy was saying to turn the sand paper over in a roll a slide the cue through the back side, which would work, the grit would be against your skin and keep it static. I'm pretty sure he wasn't suggesting reconditioning the shaft to make it feel slick with 300.

My response to Randy was purely sarcastic.

If I want to recondition a wood shaft I clean, wax, and burnish it, without removing any material at all.

That's funny, I actually did the lol thing.
I never gave any thought to that excellent question.
I'm married, have 3 sisters and a favorite aunt, I can color-coordinate. If you need a loaner pair shoot me a message.
We can call it Smooth Stroking Guantanamo Bay Style with Victoria and Marsha.
