BTW- it is Mike Siegel's fault.
These marks can be made with any tip when it slide across the felt during the break. IMHO this has to do more with bad technique than G10/phenolic.
I agree that any tip can make similar marks, but believe there was an earlier post that stated the breaker had a flat g-10 tip (think edges). That is f'd up and I wouldn't let him use it on my table(s).
Is this your personaly table or does someone else play on it? More infor would help. I break with a phenolic tip and etc and I break them decent, and I never leave marks like that on the table.
This really hurst to see- especially since that new cloth hasn't even been on there a week yet. Ouch. Sickness turns to irritation.
I was there Monday night- L and I took tables 4 and 3 respectively while 5 sat open for hours. I didn't see any marks on 5 then but couldn't swear by it. However, I'm getting suspicious the marks might have been there already, since 5 wasn't played on by any regulars from 5.30 until bangers got on there when we left around 10.30.
Last thought: I have noticed there are a few players, esp on Tuesdays, who seem to think that making a huge show of breaking and ending with a pronounced pause with their cue bent into an arc against the cloth is intimidating. I might be looking at the cue- benders and seeing if they are also cue- draggers.
