Right now I vacuum then wipe with a pamp cloth. I might try it in opposite order next time. ...

Vacuuming gets the chalk dust out of the cloth. The damp cloth is used to remove chalk marks and give the cloth a clean look.
If you go opposite you in essence turn the chalk dust to mud. Suggest you stick to your current method.

Thanks Ralph. As simple as that solution seems I had not thought to use it. Have you found that one type of glue is better than another?

JW - I use Gorilla glue.
When I glue on my tips I dampen both the ferrule and the tip.

On the cloth I never use water. The glue expands with water.

Use very little glue on the toothpick ...just enough to coat the end fibers.
As it dries it leaves a very small bump. I just tap it down flat with a ball.

The spot will be a little darker ...but will be much better than a hole.

I've heard the mud thing before but never had the problem but I don't SCRUB the cloth, just lightly rub turning it to a clean section every 1/6 of the table. I would agree that first vacuuming then the damp cloth would be better. Just lazy I guess. My theory is I'm picking up the dust not rubbing it in.
