Compound Butt Taper

A question for the cue builders who use one or anyone who has seen how it is done. How is a compound taper cut? Can it be done with a special taper bar or does it have to be CNC? Or, is it done some way less obvious to my untrained brain?

A special taper bar can be made to cut it. It can be done with CNC. Or it can be done by off setting the tailstock. If using the tailstock offset you have to cut it in two stages. The handle area would be cut with one offset and the forearm with a more of an offset. You can also do it by changing the taper bar angle and doing it in two stages.

you cna use either method as cueman said.it leaves more meat in the middle basically allowing thinner butt and joint
