Rethunk - nice to hear you. Are you the person behind findsnooker.com?
I'm the administrator, but the community here on AzBilliards drives findsnooker.com. The site wouldn't exist without contributions from the community of AzBilliards users and other players who have posted here and sent me emails. The posts and emails together number in the thousands.
The initial work to compile the data took many weeks. In 2009 there was no online list of snooker tables for the whole country. Only some tables could be found by googling, and many leads were dead ends. Some pool hall employees suggested other pool halls to contact. A number of people on AzBilliards reviewed the site and helped revise the data. A list provided by Alan Morris of the United States Snooker Association (
http://www.snookerusa.com/) included entries that would've been difficult to find otherwise. The slow buildup is recorded in various posts here on AzBilliards.com.
After the first few months there were too many people to thank individually for their contributions. None of them asked for credit, but they all deserve it. Maintaining the website is my thanks to them.
It's not feasible to call every site regularly, so for the past five years findsnooker.com has relied on members of the community to report openings and closings, to correct the reported size of tables, and so on. Statistically it's inevitable that some number of listings will be inaccurate, but these inaccuracies get corrected over time.
To be clear: no single person or small group of people compiled a list of U.S. snooker tables in 2009 or in any of the years since. A large community is responsible for the list on findsnooker.com, their work has been online for years, and they deserve credit for it.
As for Canada - we got our list from Patrick and now working with him on syncing our verified list to make them as good as possible.
Originally a friend and I were compiling data for Canada, but we gave what we had to Patrick and he's done a wonderful job of building up listings for Canada. He's also done a lot to promote snooker in Canada. As I mentioned in my PM to you, it was Patrick who confirmed for me two months ago that you were using the data from both our websites.
