Computer expert needed!

I'm using a Mac computer, OSX version operating system. I'm resigned to having to rewrite it all. I so wanted to get this book out early next year. God willing it will still happen.
Thanks all for your support. It makes me feel not so alone at a time like this. The last couple of months I've sat in front of this computer trying to get this book banged out. I was feeling so good about my progress until now. :embarrassed2:

Word has a saveautorecover setup feature usually found in advanced options (if you can't find it run help while in Word and search for key words, such as autorecover. There is where you will find the location (path) of the saved files. Then go to that directory and see if you can find it. If not, then you are toast.

Good luck.

what some have said

I don't own a Mac either, Jay, but I concur with what prior posters have said about taking it to an Apple store; I have heard more than once that Apple Company really gives good support on their products......What I would do first is just call up one or two of any Apple stores near you and tell one of their techs your problem before you bring your computer to them....or doesn't Apple have a customer service phone contact? That might be your best bet.....let your fingers do the walking first......

Mac OS: Go to recent items under the Apple symbol. Next go into the hard drive and type into spotlight what the item was you were working on. Next if those dont work, call a system recovering person. About a hunnert.

I googleed autorecover Word.

Finding AutoRecovered files in Mac OS X

Word for Mac OS X saves the AutoRecovered file as AutoRecover save of filename, where filename is the name of the document on which you were working. The default AutoRecover location is:
/Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office version AutoRecovery/Autorecovery save of filename
Replace username with the short name of your account in Mac OS X, Office version with the version of Office you have, and filename with the name of the document. If it's not there, try searching for it with Spotlight, which you can access from the magnifying glass icon in the top right of the Finder menu bar. Once you find the file, drag it to the Desktop. Double-click it, or, from Word's File menu, choose Open... to browse to and open the file.

The only bad thing is once your old/good file has been overwritten since you have started to do a re-write, if the file name is the same you probably will be screwed as the autorecover only keeps so many files I believe.

too late too help, but back it up next time to the cloud. Try box.net or dropbox. Both offer limited free back up and you always have access to it. Good luck but I bet the version you are looking for IS on the mac somewhere.
