Reading some of the other well thought out, informative threads on whether "concepts" exist in 9 ball and One Pocket, I thought I would throw my hat in the ring..

My suggestion for a concept in Alabama 8 ball is:

Never miss a ball.

What do you think?

im from bama. not sure what youre referring to but i do know this.there are alot of stout players down here. we dont play much 8 ball though. the 2 most common games are 9ball and one pocket.

I have no idea either.. I think it's some nutty game Fast Larry made up. For sure though, if it's played on a pool table with balls, the main concept is:

Don't miss!

Alabama 8 ball

Its a real game and was very popular in the 40s and 50s. Its basically the same game as ordinary 8ball except you must also make 1ball if you have solids, or the 15ball if you have stripes, in opposite side pockets in order to win. Ray Maples (deceased) from Atlanta GA was an expert at the game.

In Georgia what they used to call Alabama 8-Ball is the one ball has to go in one side pocket and the 15 ball in the other side pocket.
