I going to the pool hall today In Monroe Michigan. Little kid Running the place I get a kick out of it.. I buy a towel A couple of drinks Hey new brake jump cue. Trade the shaft for different shaft. I spent $260. .. now i. have to work. They have a tournament tonight. The father comes in. And I overhear him say my name in the tournament. I quickly explain that I couldn't play in the tournament I have to go to work. Then they give me a hard time. I shouldn't have to explain anything I do.... if I don't wanna play in a tournament.. I don't want to play . What you get a good customer then you run them off.. all i can say is wtf..

They Extended their hand For me to play in the pool tournament. And I would have loved to play. What I could not because I have to work. And that should be that. I am not bad mouthing this place. But I wish I would not have gone there today now. I had a good time Until I had to leave. I should have got a hey have a nice day hope you come back.. but I didn't I got a hey did he pay for that.

Are you a regular there? The owner of one of our old pool halls used to sell cues and accessories at nearly cost with the hopes they would come back and play at his place. They never did and he lost his profit margin on all the equipment. This may not be your situation, just giving an example of the other side of the coin.
No not a reg, i paid asking price. Money not an issue with me it just caught me off gaurd that i spent money in there had good time played the kid talked with him. But i heard my name being mentioned about the tournament an i let them no i was about to go they assumed i was playing and i was clear when the kid mentioned it that i had to work. I go to pool halls all over the country. I try to eat at them buy my junk there. Give them as much business as i can. Pool is my life but i also have other priorities. I hear people talk about why pool halls shut down an how bad the economy is doing an today i posted my experience at this place so others will consider how they really treat paying customers. It a great place i love they have a pro shop an i bought stuff. But if i have a choice ill stop somewhere else. The guy made a big deal about me not playing in tournament that i never said I would play in and was not started from my point of veiw he did not have enough to have tournament and wanted me to play. I could not an he was irritated. I left because it made me uncomfortable. Not that big deal in the billiard world but for me i spent money on stuff i could have ordered at pooldawg an my good feelings i had for that place vanished. I have not said nothing negative about the place or the people i just dont understand why i was given a hard time.
I have no idea what the post is about aside from the fact that someone asked someone to play in a tournament and they said "no".
I have a pool story also. Sunday I drove my kid to the Jr League, was hanging out, I spent about $12 on a beer and some drinks for my son. Then a few hours later, the owner asked me if I wanted to watch something else on TV. I mean where did he get off asking me?? I said I was OK with what was on, but I'm never coming back there again. Hope you all enjoyed this story, it was so important in the pool world, just wanted you all to be aware that there are pool hall managers that ask players stuff, keep an eye out for them.

If they went too far, like you somehow let them down or failed to do your 'job',

I used to go to Munroe in the 70's to play 3cushion...
..can't remember the name of the joint, but I know it wasn't Cones and Cues.
