Robert & Syd Leblanc,
I just finished Confessions of a Pool Hustler and it is a good read. I found out we have some things in common. Your love of animals for one is heartwarming, the way you talk about Petey and Ginger and especially how you cared for Ginger during her last years told me you are a very loyal human being. Ginger definitely had a best friend in you and she knew it. On the lighter side you mentioned my favorite food, Chicago Italian Beef!!
The book is filled with pool room stories that kept me riveted to the many situations you were in and how you knew when to pick your fights and when to back off. You did stand up for you and your loved ones even when the odds were against you. Some of your associates were pretty scary but you seemed to acquire their trust to the point that they had your back on more than one occasion. I noticed a winning formula in the fact that you were able to befriend your opponents to the point of many them becoming long time friends. Luck also seemed to follow you through the book and in your real life; if I remember correctly you dodged death a couple of times by sheer luck.
Overall you must have been one of the best around the pool table for a long time as you did win your competitions more than you lost and did play some of the big boys, and beat them.
Thanks for sharing your life story with the pool world. I recommend this book to everyone that enjoys pool and the pool room life.
