Confused at what EBAY cues has become.

I alleviate all confusion, misunderstandings and haggling. I buy high sell low...never got a complaint or return.
I like your style, I have a lot of overpriced stuff if you still have any money left. A package deal would be awesome, Justr send what you want to spend and I will send you stuff until we are even, if you liked that deal, we can do it again, until you run out of money ,or I run out of junk,
.......I mean collectables. I promise I will never whine, scouts honor.

I belong to a lot of auction sites and there are almost NO deals to be had. Coin auctions are the worst. Smart people will just type in the max that they want to pay and let it play out. That is the best thing you can do. Bullion auctions, you have to be first, 10 oz bar of silver, $330.00 at spot, just make that your max, or maybe a tad higher for speculation, you might get it. But it will almost always be very close to your max value. But the auctions are saturated with resellers / dealers on any level. Estate sales, as mentioned in a post, everyone wants to be a reseller. Storage war syndrome, but this comes with the fact that finding a good job for a lot of people is impossible. So they want that get rich easy hustle and they see tons of this on youtube and FB Reels and think every storage locker or estate sale is gold. When the reality, by time you get to the sale, the good stuff is likely gone. (Taken by the people running the estate sale, or their friends)

In 10 years I've only met 1 person that does storage units and he literally has a monopoly with the companies to acquire any unpaid units they have. I know someone that owns a storage unit complex and he literally has a yard sale to get rid of the items from any unpaid units, Storage Wars is a complete myth, I was watching a random youtube page (bearded thrift machine) and the 1st unit they went through an actual storage unit (which could easily be staged) and the 2nd/3rd units they were just pulling items out of a box trailer and opening outside in the cold?? Andi t was loaded w brand new toys from the 60's and all other old stuff which made zero sense.

I have a storage unit in a big complex and see into dozens of units and only 2 ever would be worth anything and not just random bulky household crap for storage/moving, one guy keeps a mercedes in his unit and another guy used a 10x30 as a "garage" unit and surely had it loaded w tools and maybe a vehicle. This is a large 1 acre+ complex and I've never seen or heard about any auctions there, I'd be guessing the maintenance man deals w those. On this FB group a woman posted a pic of the first unit she and her husband bought (overpaid for a bunch of trash) then said it took the 2 of them 20 hours to clean it out?? That's literally an entire work week (which I don't comprehend how it'd take that long) to maybe break even or make a few hundred???

Storage units have different rules in different states. NJ has very different laws than Cali where that show is located. But I have about 4-5 people I know here in NJ that do storage unit auctions. Very hit or miss for sure. All of them resell out of antique or second hand shops.

I am very far from any type of reseller, but I did have a student once (preCovid) who started an ebay store the day he turned 16 and got his driver's license. From his 10th grade year to graduation he did very well. He was even interviewed by the local online paper. A couple of tips he mentioned that helped him make money...

1. He treated it like a full time job. He was very disciplined and made sure he dedicated x hours per day.
2. Like Doc, he loved the hunt. Flea markets, yard sales, estate sales, etc. when other kids his age were out going to the lake and having fun, he was grinding.
3. His parents let him use their old barn/workshop for storage. He would buy anything he thought he could make a buck on. The key, he said, was that since he had free storage, he didn't mind if something sat in storage for months on end.
4. He would often go by garage/yard sales at the end of the day and offered a few bucks to buy whatever was left and haul it off for them. He would often get an entire trailer load for 20 bucks this way.

Neat kid to talk to...I wonder how he is doing now....

Honestly, I used to review Ebay daily looking for deals and just looking for a "deal". I seldom look and I am confused at people posting cues that are probably $5-8K cues for $50,000. There are a bunch of cues that I must admit I shake my head.

Help this old timer - why in the heck would anyone post those cue for stupid high prices? What a waste of time. I can understand if you have a $2K cue and you post it for sale for $3K to see if you get a bite.

Years ago, it was fun to see what was listed, now I just shake my head after looking at a couple pages.

I'm with you, 100%. OR, in all of the FB cue groups every post is something posting a photo of a cue with a question "Value?".
