Congrats to Efren Reyes he wins Smokin Aces 1 pokcket

Congratulations to Efren...you OLD, WASHED-UP wannabe! If only you weren't so............OLD!:rolleyes: Gimme a break...age is a state of mind over matter. As long as you don't mind, it doesn't matter. Eddie Taylor was banking 10-15 balls in a row into his 80's! All 8 players play world class pool. Efren took it off...again!

Mind over matter!

Mind over matter huh! Or power of suggestion maybe ? I remember the tip you gave me in KC ! Need a tip you say! Me I'm waiting for some great sage advice! Oh that was the funniest miscue I've ever had ! Safe travels Scott, congrats to Efren great field.

Even though the event only had 8 players, i think Efie had the toughest draw. Having to play Scott, Corey and Josh in the opening rounds was the toughest he could have. What a player he is and it should be a testament to many of us over the age of 60 yrs. that you can still play well into your golden years. Congrats to Mister Reyes......

Of course they split but i'd bet they each still wanted the title and played for it.

LOL...I remember your tip too! I think I told you I have a buddy in CO that also plays with a tip like yours, and can draw the ball to China! LOL Not me...I need more sidewall than that...but perhaps that's perception as well! Nice to meet you last month, and I look forward to seeing you again the next time I see Adam in KC!

Trust me, Filipinos ALWAYS play to win against each other. Pecking order and victories are EXTREMELY important to them. When you go to the Philippines you find the top player playing against each other all the time to preserve the "rankings" and the established players are constantly being challenged by younger players and they can't refuse those challenges.

not true efren won the hotseat so busti had to beat efren twice busti beat efren last night so they played the 2nd set today
if they were chopping i think efren would have won last night right
they had different backers and the calcutta money so i hope they both played to win for the backers sake and for the integrity of the event and sponsors
what they do with the money after the event is their own business

If they had different backers and because of the calcutta I would gladly bet that they didn't chop and didn't lay down one bit.

Plus as I said, and as Billiy Incardona said at 1p.org, they both WANT to win. The prestige is highly important to both of them.

I totally agree. I've watched them play many, many times at Hard Times and have never had the feeling that either one ever laid down. Split---that wouldn't surprise me but they are "Champions" and to lay down would be way out of their make up.

Love it when Efren raises to the occasion. Misses shots that he never used to miss but has the heart of a Winner and just seems to find a way.

calcutta was small they had a mix up on the day of the calcutta not many people there on monday for the auction
3100 in the auction
1st 65%
2nd 35%

Why would they split? Runner up is 14K already.

For the same reason Bustamante split with Skyler Woodward at the 2014 DCC Bank Ringame...money. A split guarantees both guys $19,500.

Bank Pool ring game DCC

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were 6 players that paid their 1,000 bucks to enter the DCC ring game, Diamond billiard products added another 3,000 bucks. Total prize money 9 grand with 6 grand first place and 3 grand for second.

John Morra, Brandon Shuffett, Justin Hall, Shannon Dalton, Skyler Woodward,
Francisco Bustamante.
Skyler came out with a 6 pack the first game, later he had almost all the chips, Busty was down to one barrell, i think the bet was 400 a ball at that time. Busty ran the last rack out making several balls including a 4 railer. Now Busty and Skyler were close to even in chips, Busty asks Sky to split 1st. and 2nd. Since Busty was breaking, and has a strong break in 9 ball, and was playing super good, they agreed to split the purse. They went ahead and finished the match. One long time champion Chicago player was quoted as saying that was the best bank pool i have ever seen played.

You'll note that at the Bankpool game Bustamante ended up with a guaranteed $4500 instead of a possible $3000. Poolplayers figure that "guaranteed" is always better than "maybe".

Congrats to Efren & Django

Congratulations are in order for these two fine gentlemen. You really showed everybody that the two of you are the greatest one pocket players. Not like those other players who keep mouthing off how good they are, you guys let your cues do the talking.
Once more mga pare, walang kupas, kababayan!!!:thumbup:
