yea...i heard that guy is pretty good at pocket billiards....but certainly not a hall of famer:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

and on a side note...its 5pm EST September 5th 2011. Rush and Kiss are not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame......but Abba and Run DMC are.

Hall of Fames are overrated.:angry::angry::angry:

I'm basically in boycott mode 'til he gets in. In addition to his play over the decades speaking for itself, he is the Godfather of the Pinoy invasion of pool.

Ah, we're starting early for next year.....
...I'm in on Jose's side, now that Danny Diliberto made it.
Congrats to Jose Parica on his latest win.....

..one more victory on his way to the BCA Hall of Fame

Tap-tap! It really is disgusting that someone of Paricas caliber is not in the HOF, he is an awesome player and still swinging it!

What are the recognized steps to nominate Jose Parica to the Hall of Fame? What efforts have been made in the past, and why have they failed?

Jose should be in HOF

Lenny, I agree. Jose Parica should be in the Hall of Fame. He has beat all the champions in his career in tournaments and for the cash.

Cornerman, a voting member, explains some of it in this thread:

Essentially, the top vote getter and anyone named on 75% of the ballots get in. Not quite sure of the procedure for getting on the ballot. I'm pretty sure that's explained somewhere but I'll have to find it. I'm sure Jay Helfert knows the nominating procedure since he has been a voting member.

Edit: I found this old post of Jay's. They are sent a preliminary list of nominees and names can be suggested to be added. This seems to indicate the final ballot includes any suggested names that were deemed "appropriate" for inclusion.

I haven't seen Cornerman here that much lately but he could fill us in if Jay doesn't see this.

One thing is for sure, if a name is not on the ballot it would have a tough time getting 75% of the vote.

Jose Parica is and has always been one of the strongest players in the world. An I feel underrated for many years. He should have never been put on hold for the hall of fame. And even now one of the most feared money players around.

I was there at the pool hall last night when he playing during the finals. He made a few careless mistakes and was quite animated when those mistakes hurt him. Not animated like Strickland though!

The game was very well played.

DogsPlayingPool,
Thank you for the thread link. I think I found the current list of 29 current voting members for the Hall of Fame. If we can get 75%, or 22 members then Jose Parica has a shot.

Maybe we can come up with a plan (Operation Parica 2012).

Identify who have consistently voted for Jose Parica in the past.
Identify the swing votes
Identify who won't vote for Jose Parica.

Then come up with a plan to lobby, and change enough minds to get 22 votes (75%).

Well, unfortunately I believe we have plenty of time.

If I'm not mistaken Parica is no longer eligible in the Greatest Players category due to his age and therefore can only go in under the Veterans category. If this is the case (hopefully I'm wrong and maybe someone can confirm this) then he does not come up for a vote again until 2013. The Veterans category and Meritorious Service categories are only voted on in alternating years. Since the voting for the Veterans category took place this year (Danny D. got in as a veteran), this won't come up for vote again until 2013 as Meritorious Service will be voted on next year in 2012.

Here's another thread that has a lot of info: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=200393
