Nothing against the Cornerstone's and Crossroad's of the world but anyone who consigns a cue with a third party is essentially giving their cue away.

Even with a signed agreement you have very little recompense if that vendor files for bankruptcy or in the case of Joe, dies.

Sell or don't sell, but consignment is nuts.

I really feel bad for all the guys that have lost cues in this situation, Joe was an amazing dude, and would be ashamed at what his family has done.

I would think if you have proof of ownership and records of sending it to him for work that's good enough to have it picked up Your cues aren't his ownership or probate. What you should have done was file a claim against his estate probate. Then probate couldn't be settled for the family without them satisfying that claim first.
Anyway back to the Salazar family, looks like they intentionally lied to you to keep stalling those that had cues with them. They had one excuse after another, even when they were put on notice. The mistake that was made here was for those affected trusting them and not just putting them on notice but filing an actual claim your self with his probate person. If you had records, then all family monies would have been tied up until your claims were settled first Who knows, probate may not be settled yet, you should have asked who was handling the probate right away. Sadly probate is probably a done deal by now
Really sad in how this turned out, but surely not unheard of in the pool world. With some it appears to be a big Ponzi scheme in how they do business. I would check first, right away, to see if probate is still open, then sue the family, at the very least in small claims court for stealing your goods and put a hurt on them. Some states are up to 10k now. It's a very easy process. They can easily be found if they have moved, banks will have records as to where money was moved to, the post office will have records of where mail was forwarded to. This is really sad to here every time it happens.

Have you heard anything on your end regarding anyone’s cues?

I haven’t heard anything in quite awhile.

It has been one year since the closing of Connoisseur of Custom Cues, with no resolution or attempt to be made whole!

It has been communicated that my written, signed contract agreements for consignment of these cues, TERMINATED with Connoisseur of Custom Cues once the business ended.

I stated TO THE PROBATE ATTORNEY OF THE ESTATE, these items DO NOT BELONG TO, OR NEVER DID BELONG TO, THE ESTATE of Connoisseur of Custom Cues, THEREFORE THESE ITEMS DO NOT, AND SHOULD NOT, GO INTO PROBATE, which, AT THAT POINT, he hung up on me!

To date, NO CUES OR RELATED ITEMS HELD BY Connoisseur of Custom Cues HAVE BEEN RETURNED, AND ALL COMMUNICATIONS REQUESTING THEIR RETURN, HAVE ENDED, WITH NO MORE ACCEPTING COMMUNICATIONS.

I NOW CONSIDER MY ITEMS HAVE BEEN SOLD TO UNSUSPECTING INDIVIDUALS.

If anyone comes across my these cues, leave a comment as to where they are. Thank you.

All respect to the Crossroads, Integrity and others of the world, but consigning a cue is absolute insanity.

As others have pointed out, the steps you need to take to protect your assets are well beyond what the average seller is willing to do.

I saw that Balabushka on EBay yesterday.

This story of lost, or misplaced Cue sounds like a Local Motorcycle Shop that did consignment. Guy close, no one can find him, motorcycle that were on consignment disappeared. My best guess was all were put in containers, and set off shore to Asia. Harley Davidson seem to find their way to Asia were people will buy, and local authorities register without looking close at titles, or bill of sale.

Someone said CONSIGNMENT is not a GREAT IDEA, some time it works out well. Other time not so well. Joe Salazar had a good reputation when he was alive, not so good now.

What’s really unfortunate is how this debacle has tarnished the legacy of Joe Salazar. I first met Joe in 1983. He was a solid player and a likable man. Joe showed me the first Schon cue I ever saw at a weekly Tuesday nine 9 ball tournament at the Billiard Tavern in downtown San Diego. As a businessman I did a few cue deals with him that were completely above board and smooth. In my knowing of him he stood on solid principles. Of course, I realize other people might have had different experiences. I have no idea why his family couldn’t sort out his consignments following his passing.

Unfortunately in the case of Joes family, when you look the other way you don’t see the same things that Joe saw.

This isn’t the first family that has different scruples or morals regarding things that don’t belong to them.

You knew the alive Joe, not the Family of Joe who did not care about tarnishing his memory. I do not know the entire story, who is wrong, who is right, but bottom line JOES NAME IS TARNISHED.
