Is it possible to convert a butt to a Hoppe butt and how much length would you lose in the process? I asked this because I see a design that I like and I thought it would look awesome if the butt had an Ivory hoppe butt. Could you use the orginal material of the butt for the ring? Just wondering. I know the balance would change and have taken that into account. Here is a picture of the butt. thanks, Mitch

It looks like you will have to shorten the butt between 1/2" and 3/4" to get a decent looking Hoppe butt. Traditionally they are about 5/8" total white and black.
