Converting Leather wrap to Linen Wrap

Does the conversion of an existing leather wrap to a linen wrap require extra work/$$$?

Usually yes. This might involve the time to pull off the leather and clean the adhesive from the wrap channel to re-wrap with linen. IF the wrap channel has been modified or cut deeper to accommodate a leather thicker than .023-.024 then there will be additional labor involved in bringing the wrap channel up to the level needed to wrap with linen. There are various ways cuemaker/ repair guys go about this task but most of them are labor intensive and hence costly.

Depends on the cue .
If it's an import or production, it might get complicated as they use thick leather .
Depends how the leather was glued as well.
Contact cement is easy to pull and clean.
Some other glue can be really hard and messy.

There is no answer til you determine how thick the leather is on there.

Thank you Mike - your answer is the one that I also got today outside of this forum from a very well respected repair guy, So I now know the score on this, with your corroboration, and decided to go ahead with possible upcharge if needed, the cue will end up looking and playing just as I desired- maybe better on both ends!!

Here's an example of a leather that lifted. The channel was to deep, so. Whoever! Decided to use masking tape the length of the channel, used contact cement and installed the leather. Contact cement of course wet the tape and WALA..Wrap lifted. It's always different but still interesting. Do I blame the person who did it, not really. You don't know til you have it off and some people don't want to pay extra. So whoever, adapted to the situation and completed the task. It is what it is.
