Felt Billiards in Englewood,Co has converted all the Diamond bar box tables to LED lights.
They will soon start on the 9 footers.
Geez they are bright.
Has anyone played long sessions (4 hours or more) and had any problems with your eyes?

Really bright LEDs have caused less eye strain for me personally. I've even swapped everything over in my garage to these bright LED panels, and what a great difference it has made! No more squinting.

As a geezer maybe ten years ago I couldn't see the six ball edge on my green cloth. I went to Tournament Blue. Next were lights. I found the dimmer lighting more of an eye strain than bright LED.

Now using LED bulbs in my lights and I hope someday to move to big ass panels.

So as a fellow geezer will the balls be a little clearer on the long shots?
The edge's are a little fuzzy now days.

I pulled the 6, 8 ft. fluorescents and the ballasts out of my 9 ft diamond light and put 6 led bulbs in, fixtures wire straight into the 120 circuit without ballasts. The original diffusors with the squares created a very visible grid on the cloth that was terrible, so i pulled those and installed clear foggy finish plastic sheet diffusors from Lowes. They had them already precut the correct size, 2 ft. x 4 ft. The light is very bright, but no glare and no eye strain. Whatever you can see, you'll probably see better.

What would I need to buy to go from fluorescent to led? And is it a very big job? I’m not any good at all with electrical but I enjoy trying to do the work for myself

Well, you don't need ballasts with LED, so take the ballasts out and wire the fixtures straight in. Then just replace the bulbs with LED instead of fluorescents. My Diamond Pro 9' takes 6 8 ft bulbs, and I know they are not all the same. It's a pretty simple job.

LED's are easier on your eyes. The don't flicker/pulse like fluoresc. bulbs. On tourn. blue cloth the balls are insanely easy to see with led light.

the cool part about parabolic deffusers are this: from the sides you do not see the brightness, but under you do! We are working them into our new LED lighting, Michael from Littman and I talked a couple of weeks ago and he suggested them! We had already seen them, nice to get confirmation from someone in the lighting business to confirm we are headed in the right direction. We are using a standard grid for now! Upgrading soon as its totally done!
