you guys have two different things mixed up. The shot he shows in the diagram is a proposition shot corey shoots. He makes a spot shot from behind the headstring without the cueball hitting a rail. The shot in the U.S. OPEN was against Mika Immomen and yes he hit the rail when he came back for shape

I couldn't find that shot on youtube.

The shot he made in the U.S. Open against Mika was certainly impressive. I would have to see the shot depicted in the Cue Table diagram in person to believe it.

this is the shot. he drew it to the rail and back, and it's one of the greatest shots i've ever seen.

but the best thing about it is billy incardona's reaction in commentary.

OHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYy!!! OHHHH MYYYYYYYYY How do you doooo!! :)

Brilliant!

That's not nearly the shot that I was told he did. I've seen that one and practiced it for two hours straight and made it a few times. Thanks anyway.

its posted above. i couldnt find it either. was this the shot or are you talking about a prop shot?

if find it hard to to believe you picked the right spot with both balls almost the right position and the right number ball. if im wrong im sorry

tell you what it was much more impressive live. now that ive seen it about 27 times its not that great. i play shots like that screwing around all day. i thinks he was beating mikas brains out again when that happened

It may have been the shot at 1:55 in this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=_plsd-1TNNw&feature=related

That's a GREAT shot but it isn't the shot that some yahoo told me he made. Hitting the cue ball into the spotted ball from behind the head string without hitting a rail, drawing the cue ball back down toward the kitchen. The shot I illustrated is probably just a myth by-product of Corey's (OH MY SHOT) made even more famous by Cardone.

YAHOO HUH? LIKE I SAID THE FIRST TIME HE SHOT IT THE OBJECT BALL CAME BACK OUT OF THE POCKET HE HIT IT SO HARD. IT WAS AT A TOURNAMENT SOMEWHERE BUT NOT DURING A MATCH. I CANT REMEMBER WHERE I WAS WHEN IT HAPPEND. DERBY CITY MAYBE, PHOENIX, CHARLOTTE I'M NOT SURE. ANYWAY GLAD TO KNOW YOU THINK SO HIGHLY OF ME. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU.

As mentioned above, there was probably some confusion in the description.

Yes the shot shown is possible with the shape shown. It's a masse shot. I'd be willing to bet I could do it, but I'd need a day of shooting and a permissive table owner. The closest I've seen to this shot was to make the ball and draw the cue ball straight up the table from the object ball. That is, the cue ball hit in the object ball and then went straight from the foot spot half way to the center spot, which is the midpoint between the side pockets.

Boston Shorty was said to bet he could shoot a spot shot directly into the side pocket without the cue ball touching a cushion. That's also a masse shot. I imagine he asked for more than one try.
