He "shutout" his opponent in the final is what the referee said. He beat Mika 11-0 in 2001.
That was one of the best finals I've ever seen. Corey shot around a .930, nearly perfect pool...and Mika couldn't get out with two balls on the table.
Yup, although if you ask Mika, you'll get an entirely different story -- a rant on Corey's now-patented soft cut-break:
But last year, Mika definitely hurled those monkeys off his back, that's for sure!

Is the Deuel - Immonen match on youtube etc? Could have been fun to watch.
Mika isn't the same player at all anymore, I think that loss made him a lot stronger...His concentration and focus have become the stuff of legends.
Coreys US Open shut out against Mika was siimply a prime example of how he had all of the top players jarred at the time. His win stretch back then was maybe some of the best pool that has ever been played! I had a front row seat watching him day in and day out and all I can say is it was sick how good he played! If he is dedicated to pool and not f'ing off can't none the top players would like it playing Corey, he has that much more talent...... Like comparing Tiger to the PGA pros.
If he is in fact that good when dedicated, what is keeping him from being dedicated? Women? Wii? Poker? Quilting?![]()
