Nostroke said:What the post you replied to said was that Corey used the cue in the WPC and his play would be viewed for years to come on TV and tapes and that would constitute a form of advertising for the cue. This is product placement, not prostituting.
macguy said:That is exactly what they did with as many players as they could. There is nothing he or the others players can do about what happened at the tournament, but he can sure make them get his name and image off their web site and stop implying he indorses the cue or come up with some money. He is a fool if he doesn't.
macguy said:I hope he is giving the money to a charity or something, how small time can one get trying to sell a cue they were given. Not to mention playing with it when he didn't even believe in the cue, especially if he is already sponsored by another cue company. And if as you say they will be indirectly using him as a advertisement for the cue in the future just because they put the cue in his hands and got a picture of it, that would be a fraud. Isn't he in fact featured in a photo on their web site with the cue along with a lot of other players trying to give the impression they indorse the cue? Reminds me of the people who run up to celebrity to get a picture taken with them and hang it on their office walls like they are old friends. What you are telling us pretty much explains the pros actual involvement with the cue, none of them actually indorse it and x-breaker has some questionable content on their web site in terms of honesty. The pictures were even posted here with I suspect the same intent. I wonder if these players know they are being prostituted by x-breaker? Sounds like Corey sold out his integrity for a free cue, hard to believe? Tell him to stop embarrassing himself and just return the cue he should probably never have accepted in the first place, much less as payment for a fake indorsement. If I was his sponsor I would fire his ass. Just my opinion
shinobi said:Even the most successful professional pool players are grossly underpaid in comparison to other sports and tournaments. A world class player like Corey Deuel is never going to make his millions from pool, nor do I see Nike lining up to offer a big endorsement deal. One of the FEW small perks a professional player might get is free equipment such as cues, cases, etc. So Corey gets a _three hundred dollars retail_ cue, uses it for awhile, then sells it... and you write this long screed about how he has sold out his integrity and should be embarassed?
Who's your beef with anyway? On the one hand you roast Corey over selling a break cue. Then you roast the company that gave him the cue first for fraud, and for embarassment of a short lived endorsement. From your view, everyone is an idiot, everyone is to blame.
In my view, your complaint has absolutely no merit whatsoever and you seem to like making a lot of assumption on other peoples behalf. The only one who should be embarassed is you.
Al-fahl Amir said:I'm with Corey right now and said he will sell his X breaker for $300 or the highest bidder by Friday the 19th at 3:00pm. Corey with also sign the cue if you want. You can also buy any of his playing cues at www.woodpeckercues.com. Any questions Corey will be here until 2:30pm.

Yes I know Richard
No I don't play with his product
My buddy Doug Foster makes my cues and I would rather get a sex change befor I sold one of them.
Can't the man advertise his product? Is it not possible that his cue is good? For those who think he is distorting the truth...ask McDonalds. Do they tell you that their burgers are not very good for you...or do they say, "I'm loving it"?
I don't see any of the pro's listed on his site crying about use of their image.

Sweet Marissa said:This rule is only being created because Corey perfected a technique that allows him to break and run, and other players can't copy it, as they have tried and failed. Even if he makes a ball on the break, they want to call foul, and it's ridiculous. So if I play Johnny Archer, and he jumps balls better than me, I don't think he should be able to jump. How about make him play one-handed, too? What a bunch of babies.
nipponbilliards said:Originally, I was not going to discuss this in a public forum out of respect of Corey's privacy.
Since there have been a lot of false accusations being passed around here based on false information and unfounded assumptions, I have decided to state the FACTS to set the record straight.
Let me make this clear, I have never handed a X Breaker to Corey for free. I was in Taiwan showcasing and selling our X Breaker during the World Pool Championship. And a dear friend and professional player, Jennifer Chen, was there, who introduced Corey to me.
I did not know Corey until after Jennifer had introduced him to me. Jennifer asked Corey to try the cue because she wanted to hear his feedbacks. I was not there when they were trying out the cue so I cannot really tell you what happened. Jennifer then decided to pay for a X Breaker and give it to Corey and she told me to go and take a picture of Corey breaking with the cue on the practise table. Jennifer told me she has asked Corey and Corey said he would like to use the cue, therefore, she has decided to buy one for Corey as a gift, and as a courtesy to help me out.
The X Breaker retails for $350 plus shipping, not $300.
Jennifer Chen was there during the whole time from the minute Corey tried the cue, until he left with the cue. I had to stay at my booth so I did not go and talk to Corey. Jennifer told me that the condition she explained to him was that he would have to use the cue and let me take a picture of him and post it on the site(www.xtremebilliard.com), that is why I had a picture of Corey breaking with his X Breaker during the first day of the tournament on the practise table; in return, Corey can have the cue and use it in the tournament. And the cue was paid for by Jennifer Chen.
I was selling the cues to professional and amateur players during the tournament. I let them try the cues, and they bought them. My cues were gone in two days. Thorsten Hofmann was the last one who purchased a X Breaker from me. Daryl Peach was there after Thorsten Hofmann but he could not get one because it was sold out. Andreas was the guy before Thorsten in line. These are the facts and can be easily verified.
Jennifer really liked the cue and she really wanted her friends to try the cues and tell her they like them, that is the way Jennifer is. I really appreciate her help. I am also very happy that she used the cue and received a Silver Medal in the World Game and then came third in the WPBA Peoria tournament right after that. Jennifer has bought a few cues from me.
Who will use a terrible jump break cue(which is built for perhaps the most important shot in 9 ball) in the most important tournament in one's career, especially if he already has a cue sponsor and has his own break cue?
I will let you draw your own conclusion about why Corey used the X Breaker in the WPC, in which he finished in the last sixteen.
Since it was a gift bought for Corey by Jennifer, it would not be right for me to ask Corey to give it back to me anyway. Please stop attacking Corey for trying to sell it. The cue was paid for and belong to him.
I do not want to guess or make any assumption here. I just want to state the FACTS. Therefore, I am not going to discuss how me or Jennifer Chen personally feel about how this situation has been handled. I also do not wish to discuss my personal opinion about this issue. I am just here to submit the FACTS based on my first hand experience about what I saw and heard.
We do not want to use anyone's picture if he/she is unhappy about it. We have a solid product which has been very well received.
Although from my understanding Corey did have an agreement with Jennifer to allow us to post his picture on the site www.xtremebilliard.com, his name and his pictures has been removed on the web site out of respect for his sponsor(s).
What the pictures shown on the web site was suggesting that the players tried the X Breaker, decided to buy/use them, and gave us permission to post their pictures on the web site. Please do not make any uneducated assumptions and insult the integrity of Xtreme Billiard Concept before getting the facts right.
I hope I have set the record straight. Please stop attacking Corey and/or Xtreme Billiard Concepts based on unfounded assumption or false information.
Aron, thanks for saying that the X Breaker is very nice and breaks well. I hope Corey will do well in the US Open and the Joss tour. I am sure the buyer will be very pleased with how the X Breaker performs. I saw his woodpecker cue and it was a beauty. Best wishes to the sales.
Lastly, thank you for all the posters here who have been so kind to speak up for the company and me. I really appreciate the kind words.
Thank you.
Richard
Al-fahl Amir said:. I will be calling Corey later about the problems here to see if he still wants to give it up.
daytonajoe said:Suggest that Cory do a drawing for AZ members only. since Jennifer purchased the cue, and $300 isn't going to make or break Cory.
Let people enter their name for say 12 hours or so, and draw a winner. Winner pays shipping only.
Great way to turn this into a positive experience for all..
Ps/; ask Cory if he is comning to the Bahama Shootout this year
