Honestly, this is crazy. This is exacly the same shot.
All the other shots are equally mind blowing...
I've noticed that almost all the shots the cue ball has a somewhat late reaction to the spin.. It's a little weird. At the end of the video he says he used a "trick cloth", I have no idea what that means...

Its a good thing you edited that video to the shots actually being made, or I'd have needed 9 hours of sleep and three bowls of cheerios to sustain living by the time you got done. Funny thing is, I don't really recall Ronnie Oh Sullivan shooting shots like that when he wins world snooker championships:thumbup:

It says "THICK' cloth....check it out.
This gives more back pressure when the cue ball hits the object ball....
...and the thicker nap gives the spinning ball more to grab onto.
...it's easier to masse on thick cloth...

And the LD shaft makes spinning easier....even though the tip is over-size.
A tradition British snooker cue has too much wood in the shaft....it doesn't give...
....so you get a deader hit.

I was trying to show a player a few years ago a fancy power spin position shot that Alex
Higgins did....I couldn't do it with his John Parris snooker cue....
...so I grabbed his pool cue with a 314 Predator shaft...did it first try.

The trouble with thick cloth is that the spin dies quickly....
...slow finesse shots with maxi spin don't work very well.

Thanks for posting that. I've been watching a lot of snooker lately, and this was really enjoyable to watch! I've been noticing the action of the cue ball on a lot of the shots. In particular when the players play a break out on the rack with draw, the cue ball will actually "screw"into the pack. It's fun to watch!

Nope. I know the guy personally.
His cuepower defies belief.

Fair enough, sir, that really is most impressive cue power in that case.

It wasn't the difficulty of the shots that led me to suspect some sort of CGI had been employed by the way (we all know such feats are possible at the hands of a talented cueist) rather the resolution and motion of the balls appeared slightly unnatural to my eye. Just a quirk of the camera, I guess.

Best wishes,
RC.

It's not a trick. Anyone that can draw their ball can do these. He puts wax on the balls. You can't do that unless the balls are really really slick.

Everything mentioned above and the cue ball is smaller, therefore lighter. Ever played somewhere that has worn out blue dot cue balls or cheap knockoff little cue balls? It's almost difficult to not over spin it if you're used to regulation size and weight. That and the deflect much differently, off your cue and other balls. Some people don't even notice...

Sometimes brand new cloth will do the same thing for a day or two. Wax and new cloth is really good for those shots.

It still takes a great stroke and knowledge of the possibilities to do those shots.

The cue ball is only 0.574% lighter...an allowable difference, I'm pretty sure.

Voice of reason! Good post.

I also use an LD shaft for snooker exclusively. OB1.

Amazing video, very impressive!
