To come up with the plan to clear out the obstructing ball was brilliant, and far beyond the scope of most of us, at least speaking for myself!
The true discipline of billiards. Acting like you wasn't a big deal, but the inside its like "how did I not see that coming?" but you don't say that aloud.
Like the shot itself, all he had to do was see it. I probably wouldn't have.

And it seems to have been hill-hill. The worst thing you can do at 8-ball is to run all your soldiers off the table and be stuck on the eight. I think he was trying to break the eight out on his last ball.
Pool is a very creative game! I like to say there is a way to make every shot.
The shot looks wired for both outcomes - but would anybody but Corey have seen it? And put just the right amount of inside on the CB to "true up" the 8's bank angle? I think not.

Does everybody see the optical illusion I see with these two pics? The pics/tables are actually the same size, but the one on top seems bigger because it appears "farther away".

great work its escher, you found an anomaly. pool tables are designed with amazing amounts of precision, your photographing likely what could have been recently or hundreds of years ago. Truly straight lines with no imperfections.
I saw this shot in person and was just out of view of the camera. It was an incredible shot and to see Corey react the way he did says it all. He did win a bunch of money, especially considering they have a nice Calcutta at 4 bears, but still. Incredible to see that shot and get that ball out of the way to clear a lane.
Very memorable tourney for me, they opened up the field past the original 128 to 170 players and I drew Shane and played him on that stream table first round. He played perfect and down 4 or 5 to nothing he scratched on the break, I ran out, barely, and all the locals cheered since I avoided the skunk lol. He ran every rack but that one and I had 4 chances in total with alternate break and only made the 1 count.
Also, something else that I think worth mentioning especially since he recently passed away. The guy Corey was playing in this match was Lui Hui Chan. Now the word there was (don't know if it was true), that Lui was either going to college somewhere in the states or at least supposed to be, but was actually traveling around playing pool for a few months...Have no idea if that was true, but it kind of made sense, considering how young he was and that I don't think he was in the US very long. Him and his backer didn't seem to speak English very well. They were both small, from somewhere in Asia, and seemed to have an interesting fashion with the way they dressed, hair styles, and shoes, etc. IDK, just kind of cracked me up a little to see them at the Native Casino in New Town, ND. Don't think he had ever played on a valley bar box before, but guy still played amazing. Now, there was a player at the tourney named Bart Goode, from MI, who had been working in ND for several months and I got to know him some and he played damn good on the bar box. His nickname was Bart "Fucking" Goode as I found out when he torched me in the finals of an event a few months prior. Anyways, I think it was the 9ball and not the 8ball, but Bart actually beat Lui like 6-1 or something like that. Bart talked to me about it after and you could tell he was just pumped that he had beat one of the International sensations, even though it was on a valley bar box etc. I saw Bart passed away this last year, but seeing this video above reminded me of all the notable things that happened at this tourney.

Good comment on the inside english. I was going to post the same thing. Without inside, the 8 probably would have had more "checking" english coming off the 5 ball that would have made the 8 bank short.
