Corian ferrules?

Anyone used Corian for ferrules?
I bought some off Ebay (3/4" squares bone white) and turned it down for ferrules.
This was like 7 or 8 years ago, I still have a cue with one on it.
Older McDermot and it still looks good. This stuff machines well and polishes up very nice.
Maybe it's a little heavy, there's gotta be some reason I don't see it more.

I used Corian back in the 80's for a ferrule and they cracked very easily and had a very hard sounding tinky hit. Maybe if I had solid capped and threaded them like I do today they would have held up. But I did not care for the hit at all. With that being said I wonder if Corian is still made with the exact formula or if maybe they improved it to give it a little more give, making it less brittle. If so then it may also hit better now.

I've also found Corian to crack fairly easily and I used capped ferrules.

In the 80's I tryied Corian for point material. I got down to the final cut & it shattered. I tryed it for butt caps & the same thing happened. I gave up & never used it again...JER
