Cork wrap opinion?

Cork wraps feel great but as pointed out, sometimes cork wraps will dry out over time like cork on a wine bottle.
Resale value is not helped by a cork wrap. In fact, it probably limits the resale interest and resulting sale price.

Now Cortland linen, if you could get any, helps the resale value because it’s hard to find any still in good shape.
Other linen wraps are so inferior that you are much better off with a leather wrap than a cheap linen wrap or cork.
I would suggest that the old Penn linen is a superior option as well, if you can find it.

Finding Cortland can be done. Whether or not someone, a cue maker, is willing to sell/install it is another matter.

I remember a story a while back where a prominent maker told someone (implied?) he had none left. But turns out he did. He just wouldn't even say outright that he had it unless the cue in question, and maybe the customer, was right for the linen. He wasn't lying as much as just playing his cards close to his vest.

I think Penn linen fishing line is a very high quality wrap for pool cues and Blue Mountain is a close 2nd.
Cortland is still #1 and searching is frustrating, plus #9 is usually all that you see and it’s kinda expensive.

Cork wrap

Howdy Courtney, I have a cork wrap C series Mcdemott (20+) years old and a newer Bert Schragar with a cork wrap, have lived in Texas for 30 years and have not had a problem with the cork wrap and Texas humity.

I do not leave them in the car and also they are in boxes cases not tube stlye cases
Hope this helps in your choice

May I inquire how you obtained the McD C model cue?

In 81 I had Jim McD make me a special Carom cue (C-3) with a cork wrap.

I loved that cue, set a lot of records with it!

First cork wrap cue i ever saw/hit was a early 80's McD that the houseman had bought. I've loved the wrap ever since. Smooth 'bushka style leather runs a close second but i like cork the best.

True Dat!

I always loved the 'Harvey Martin' cues with cork, but the cork He used was a little rough feeling!

McD had a 'Fine' texture to the cork! Although, if you were a 'Daily' player 1 wrap a year is about right!
