Cork wrap

So, I recently took a Pechauer in on a trade that had a cork wrap. I'm usually partial to either wrapless or leather, not a fan of linen or much else. I didn't really like the look of the cork wrap and planned on changing it as soon as possible. The first few times I shot with it couldn't get used to it, or so I thought. After playing several more times with I have to say I've completely changed my tune on the cork wraps. The cue just has the craziest grip to it. Such a weird feeling at first but once you get used to it I've found the grip to be better than any of the leather wraps I've had. Has me thinking about switching some other cues to the cork wrap. I'm still not completely sold on the looks however. I think there are different colors of cork wraps if I'm not mistaken. I think the cue would look better maybe with a darker wrap. I know it would look tons better with a nice leather wrap but I think I may stick with the cork for the feel. What are some of your thoughts on cork wraps? Am I wrong about different colors? I don't really see many people that do wraps advertising that they do cork, is it something not many people do? Just looking for any kind of input really. Heres a few pics of the cue and wrap.

Well they are ugly as all get out for one but man they feel good. I really considered switching wraps for a while.

I really like the feel of them too. Played with a couple of cues that had them and they felt really nice, and this coming from someone that has 98% wrapless cues. I don't imagine they're all that durable but they are pretty cheap to install and fairly easy to replace from what I've been told.

IMO, I do not think a darker wrap would look better on this cue. In fact, I think the wrap you have on it in the attached pictures is about the perfect color/shade for it. Any darker of a wrap and the whole cue would just be too dark. On top of that, you are really digging the FEEL of the wrap, so............why change it???

And not even off topic to the thread

I still can't belive they got away with that skit LOL, it's one of my all time favorites from SNL.

There was once a skit done on a local morning radio show. The subject of the spoof was a so-called commercial for Dickens cider. Can you imagine where THAT could go???

I can still remember the part where the voice on the commercial said "I remember how my grandma used to like a little Dickens cider before she went to bed at night".

Cork suckers......that's a good one too!!!

Cork wraps

After thinking about it, I definitely agree that a darker cork would make the entire cue a little too dark. Although I think I'll probably stay with the cork wrap on this one, and might do one on a Jackson Custom Cue I have. As much as I didn't like this at first I'm pretty amazed at how much I'm liking it now!!

I've played with corked sticks in the past. The main problem was the material getting strained from hand oils, powder, etc. The material eventually gets shiny.

How much would it cost to replace the cork? Can it be self-replaced? Where would you get the cork material and in what thickness?
