Corner Ball Every Time-New 9-ball Configuration

I'm pretty sure Ronnie Alcano will obliged anyone for a game of 10 ball. Hard breaks? No problem...

You better not open up you wallet too wide with that statement, there's allot of talent out there. Probably wouldn't be too hard to get Efren one on one in this spot.

I was not trying to belittle the World Championships, or Ronnie's game and I'm sorry if I offended gopi-1, I was trying to point out the obvious problem that pro players have been scratching their heads about for the last 20 yrs. gopi-1 did I possibly defeat you in a tournament at one time or many others? You think that a guy who wins a tournament is the best in the World, well I'm sorry to knock you off your high horse but Ronnie was the best in the world that week and I know he is a great player, but I did not imply that I was all that just trying to make a point that you obviously will never understand. Let me simplify it so even gopi-1 might comprehend, 10-ball is a better way of playing rotation than nine ball. I would like to see Ronnie's One Pocket and if you think he such a great rotation player I would be willing to wager any $ that he would not care to play his fellow countryman Dennis Orcola for big cash. Dennis is tough and I know a good player when I see one, ohh but don't you worry gopi-1 there are many out there like you who love to watch the corner ball fly in and say "wow he makes that ball every time."
Thanks gopi-1 your the best,
Danny Harriman

Danny, if the Filipino players have their way, they rather play 10 balls than
9 ball on their money matches. They rather win or lose on "skill", instead of
their opponents lucking out. And just like you said, you rather see a player
crack their break, what's wrong with using your common sense once in
a while? You're probably quite familiar with Ronnie's break, and I'm sure his "hard"
break is much, much better than most. His hard breaks were not working, so
he adapted. What's wrong with that? Do we have to punish a player because
he found a way to win?

And the last time I checked, the object of 9-ball is to make a ball on your
break, get a decent shot at next ball, and do your damn best to run-out.
I didn't see in the rule book that you have to bust your balls everytime you
break, or are we talking about a different sport?

Your comments are full of envy Danny, well, I was also hoping that I thought
of that "soft-draw break" first, wouldn't it be a dandy?
;)

You guys make it seem like he has it perfected. Well he didnt! And he could make a ball on the break 600 times in a row, he played great AFTER the break. He played great on the IPT as well. Maybe we should ban crushing the balls, or ban great break timing, or hey lets ban players from the philippines, because you know, gosh they win a lot, so yeah, lets just not invite them anymore. Its the same kind of mentality that says safties are "dirty Pool". Its strategy, yeah how dare anyone actually figure something out that works. It just doesn't make any sense, so think about your grabastic racking theories before you post them.

That's harsh man! We've got a 'real" pool player here, you might hurt his feelings! :D

What the heck is a Grabastic, or is it just misspelled. Wasn't in the dictonary tho it sounds like a Spastic Grabber, never heard of them, possibly someone withTourette Syndrome?

Grabastic (Gra-bas-tic) adj. : from the latin grabe meaning exaggerated, unnecessary, and monumentally stupid. ex. (1) Quit it with the grabastic theories on how to improve the game -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! (2) Man, did you hear about that girl who had surgery for a third boob? Grabastic!

Best way to "fix" the 9 ball rack to make it less predictable, and stop the wing ball....... add the 10 ball. ;)

Yep!

That's the answer!

And make the players drink a 7oz beer before each new rack is broken.

I see from your Avatar that you give everyone a spot in that department. :-)

Rack em 90 Degrees

What happens if you rotate the nine ball rack 90 degrees with the 1 ball on the spot?

Just use all 15 balls in rotation.
I agree, 15-ball rotation is a fairer gauge of one`s ability. Much like snooker, a player must accumulate points to win and not by merely pocketing the n1ne-ball. Luck factor would be lessened if not diminished. It would be very hard to win a snooker game on the basis of a fluke shot.
The question is, will the players from outside the Philippines accept the game ?

I think that even if Ronnie stuck with hard break he would have still won...he would have found his break stroke sooner or later. Champs always find a way to win. It was his superior position play and shotmaking that won him the WPC.
