I currently have simonis 860 cloth, but it's getting real close to the time to replace it. I have a 9' table and the best price I can find is $251.75. I was just wondering if there is a simonis 860 look a like that anyone would recomend?

thanks
Ray

That ain't much considering how much play you can get out of it.

I prefer Granito Basalt (muellers). Plays just as nice as Simonis and lasts longer. Ive had both on my table and will use Granito from now on. It was slightly less expensive than Simonis the last time I checked.

I'm pretty sure they make a version of simonis 860 that is more synthetic and is supposed to last a really long time. Of course it's more expensive but you don't have to replace it nearly as often. It's called Simonis 860HR.

Edit: Q-Masters just recovered all of their gold crowns in the tournament room with tournament blue Simonis 860HR :)

I don't know what the cloth is called but the guy coming to set up my table tomorrow was telling me about it. They use it in england, it's actually faster then simonis but i forget the name of it. I will have to find out. He just refelted all the tables that we played out city tournament on and they played great all weekend. I could not tell the difference but i do think it's cheaper. I'll see if I can get a hold of him.

I would be interested in what its called......thanks!

I really don't understand. If we are talking cloth that plays slightly faster, or costs slightly less, or lasts slightly longer, why not use the cloth that almost ALL tournaments are played on ? Use the same cloth that you will encounter when you play elsewhere ! Makes sense to me. That AND 4 1/2" pockets. Go forth prepared ;) ...Tom

CPBA Competition. Plays alot like Simonis and costs alot cheaper and lasts a little longer. It is a little thinner then Simonis but lasts longer. You can pay like $150 for it.

is that what you mean?

Here's a vote against Championship cloth. Hated it.

Simonis 860 or 760. There's a reason everyone plays on it.

ZOMG....You OWN a 9 footer (and have a big enough apartment/house to keep it in) and you are quibbling over $100.00 in price?

Can we pass out a tin cup here, people??

JeeeeeeBUS CHRIKEY!!

I've tried simonis and Championship tour edition in the worst environment....a pool room. multiple users; from bangers to semi pros, spilled drinks, etc.

the tour edition outlasted the simonis by 3 to 6 months and it seemed to get faster with age. the only thing that I disliked was the skid marks from the power breakers and the wannabes trying to jump balls.

the price that you list is (probably) the MAP, Minimum Advertised Price. If you deal with a local table mechanic who buys in bulk (bolts of cloth) he may be able to give you a better price.

Are you going to install it yourself ? That's another factor to look at when you buy. Personally, I would not install any cloth not bought from me.

Its for home use. It wont wear and tear so fast, so he should fork over the extra hundred and get the better cloth. imho

I had 860 on my 9' table first, then put Championship cloth on it afterwards. The slower Championship cloth seems to be holding up better and is easier to clean. It pilled a lot when I first got it, but the little fuzzies settled down after awhile.

I found out the name of the cloth is Milliken super pro

"Milliken SuperPro billiard cloth is a cut above the rest. This tournament grade pool table felt has a smooth worsted finish that will not pill or fluff like cheaper brands will. It is also protected by a liquid resistant treatment called SpillGuard which penetrates and protects each and every fiber so the cloth won't swell, smell or stain should a beverage get spilled on it. Used in professional tournaments and pool halls worldwide, SuperPro not only plays great but it last a long time too. Milliken has been producing fabrics for over 100 years and is the world's leading manufacturer of pool and snooker cloths. In fact, they are the exclusive supplier to the World Eight Ball Federation and the International Professional Pool Players Association."

I played on it all last weekend for about 30 hours and it was great!
