Does anyone remember a black player called Stick? I have a couple friends from Mobile, Al. pass thru there and played him. They were wondering if he was still alive and what speed he played, they thought he played well. Another player in the room was Tommy Sanders, and they were wondering what he was up to now. If anyone knows please reply.

Stick played good Banks and One Pocket. He would be in his 70's (or 80's) by now. I broke even with him playing full rack Banks in Dallas about 40 years ago!

I don't remember the players but I remember the Cotton Bowl Palace, that's was a ways back

The Cotton Bowling Palace was like an unreal happening to some 20 year old kids from Arlington, TX.

I saw Detroit Whitey, Bobby Chapman, Teddy Copeland, Little Alfie, Big Alfie, Ralph Cortez, Charlie Woods & lots more play for the cash....

The bygone days may be lost, but many a player would like to see a return. If Pool players were gunslingers, that was truly the wild, wild, west

Tommy Sanders lives in San Antonio doesn't play anymore, a couple of times a year. Stick is 73 and still beat most people in One Pocket right now.

We lost One Pocket Chilly and Dallas Joe, Big Larry out of Dallas is very sick and cant play anymore. Charlie T and Freddy T both passed away with in the past two years.

When i was like 16 and thought i could play i went to a pool hall in Beaumont and started woofing at everyone(i was a mouthy little *****)..I kept calling this guy a nit and telling him he would gamble..The guy had a shirt with a cross on it..He said "Look here kid.Tonight when u get home i want u to pray..Cause Jesus Christ saved ur life today"..Turns out Tommy had found god and didnt gamble anymore..ha i had no idea who he was..Nice guy..Last i knew he was selling used cars in Austin..I bet Jesus aint saving those customers though..ha ha hell of player..

Sounds like the story Bobby Bare sings about Tiger Man McCool, titled "The Winner"
