Counterfeit Kamui tips?

I really want to give a Kamui Soft tip a try, but I am paranoid of getting a counterfeit after reading some bad experiences. A few people purchased the tips from big name online stores. Can anyone recommend a reputable dealer?

Just get it from the installer, you need a bit of know how to install the Kamui tips anyway or they will separate. So may as well get the tip form the guy that knows how to install them, and they should be the real thing.

Hmm, Kamui made a video for spotting counterfeits. I'd look for the new versions with the holograms. Best would be to buy from a store where you can see it in person ;)...

I install them and get them from Kamui directly.
Kamui USA is in Long Beach.
I'm near Cal State Fullerton.

The only place I've ever seen a fake Kamui is in their video for spotting them. Easiest way to avoid getting junk is not to buy stuff for pennies on the dollar from eBay.

What makes them so hard to install?

Can you explain your profile pic? I have seen it around lately and was wondering what is going on in that pic.

You can't heat them up too much if using a lathe.

Not just a Kamui tip Bud, heat is an enemy of any layered tip. Heat plus glue = not good.

I cut mine with water. I use carbide blades which allow me to use a blade for several tips. If using an ordinary blade, I use it twice. One tip per side and it gets tossed.

Have to be careful when burnishing a tip also. Whether you use a piece of leather or a folded paper towel, you can create a lot of heat making it shiny.

As an Edit. If you do get a hold of a knock off Kamui, chances are great that the glue used will most likely be inferior, making it easier to
de laminate a tip when cutting.
