does anybody know whatever happened to Kristi Carter? she was an up and coming star a few years ago, even played in the ESPN Ultimate 9 Ball Challenge, against Helena.

i saw her at Peoria last year, and she was looking absolutely beautiful. just wondering if anyone knows where she is or what she's doing?

thanks,
DCP

Kristi was my favorite player for a couple of years around 1998-2000. She is (was) from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The last time I saw her was at the Women's US Open in Myrtle Beach in 1998. She was similar to one of my new favs, Rachel Abbink, in that she played the bar table really well, and didn't mind hunting action in some less than desirable places. She would also mix it up with whoever would play her. And I've heard that she came to fisticuffs with more than one of the other lady pros at the time.

The girl had spunk. I have wondered myself lately if she is still playing.

I also saw her in Peoria, and as I've known her for years, she and I had a nice chat. Yes, she was once a solid up-and-coming on the WPBA, her ranking having reached around #18 at one point. She and her best friend and regular road partner Holly Sholes stopped playing on the WPBA tour about five years ago. As of my chat with her last summer, Carter was living somewhere in Arizona and had no thoughts of a return to the green felt.

Finally, you're right about how great she looked.

I talked to her brother about 6 months ago and she is living in Tuscon, not playing at all. I used to hang out/play with her a lot when she used to be the manager at Crown Billiards, Oceanside in 93-95. I miss her a lot. :(

Hi Tina:

It's been a very long time and I often think about the ole days at Crown Billiards and other great places in San Diego. Just wanted to drop a line and let you know that I miss you too and I hope that you are doing well and playing often.

Take care,
Kristi

Thanks DCP! You are very kind.

To my surprise, most of the posts are spot on. I have been away from the game since early 2000 and I am now living in Tucson, Arizona. At this time, my primary focus is my education, but once that is complete or at least less time consuming, I intend on giving pool another go.

Take care,
Kristi

Kristi's break

There was a thread about a year ago, also talking about Kristi and Holly, asking where they were and discussing how good they played.

I meant to make one comment back then, but forgot to, so now I will...and I'm surprised no one else mentioned this when talking about Kristi's 9 ball game...and that is, that she had the hardest/best break that I've ever seen a woman player have - weighing in at about 110 pounds, she broke the balls as hard as the guys in the pool room with the hardest breaks. The Ghost ps, Kristi, if my estimate of your weight was wrong, don't be mad at me ^_^

Hey Morticia,

It's great to know that you are doing well. Stay in touch. The board could use another knowledgeable voice.

Thanks Mike!

Kristi,

It's good to hear that you are doing well. Get your education finished and play pool for the fun and competition. I used to watch you play at Shooters in Olathe during tournaments. Funny thing is that I was talking to Danny Dysart (Midwest 9-ball tour) a few weeks ago at a tournament and you were mentioned in the where are they now part of the conversaton. Good Luck and hope to see play again sometime.

Darryl

Hey Kristi, I heard you were back in a pool room and hitting balls a little recently. Welcome to the forums.

Hey Mike,
Who is your possom,Mainstreet Guy?

Yes, it was someone at Main Street that mentioned she had been in.

I was out there dropping off papers and having dinner a couple weeks ago.

Hi Mike:

I played a Sunday tournament at Main Street a couple weekends ago. Mind you it was the first tournament I played in five years. I was a little nervous, but absolutely enjoyed every minute of it.

Darryl, in my opinion Evelyn and Danny Dysart are the best tournament directors. I miss them dearly and think of them often. If you see them, please tell them I say hello. Thanks!

Take Care,
Kristi

Kristi ..

Hi Kristi (& Holly too) ... I used to see you two at Shooters Billiards
in Wichita when you would come up for tournaments, and I think a little
down in OKC and Tulsa when I came down there.

Hi Scott:

Long time -- no see.

I grew to love bar box pool and really enjoyed the Wichita tournament. Nice calcuttas, always something going on, and the owner (Paul) is a stand up guy too.

If Gail Levy still plays, please tell her I say hello. Thanks!

Ciao,
Kristi

My recollection is that Gail Lave is from somewhere in the state of Montana.
