CSI INVITATIONAL 8-BALL (July 23-25, 2014) 16 Players (Winner $8K/ Runner up $5K)

Seems like Efren has been playing very poorly recently. I can almost call all the shots he is about to miss. I caught him hanging around thr oxygen bar at the Rio. Guess that dodnt help :D

LOL I can relate to Efren . I am social player so I only play when I drink:thumbup:

Wow Efren about to be knocked out down 0-6

Apparently Corey won 9-2. Thorston is up 7-2 and breaking.

Thorston is ensured to advance.

I believe the race is to 8 in 8 ball. Shouldn't matter since the rack differential will not come into play.

:::::EDIT:::::: I guess I was wrong since it's 8-2 and they just racked again

Looks like team taiwan is getting destroyed badly in this event. Baby Ko still looking promising - he hasnt lost to anyone but other taiwanese players so far during his current US trip.

Thorsten is on fire. Had some problem with final rack but managed to out for a 9-3 win
The 2 matches finished very early and not as close as expected. So now have to wait 40 mins for next big match Shane v Orcollo

I always thought that if the IPT kept going Thorsten would have even been a bigger impact player on the pro pool scene than he is now. His strong 14.1 play is a big asset playing 8 ball especially since he has the power game and break to go along with the finesse. Kinda wish we'd see more pro 8 ball events. Watching this one has been really fun.

Ko broke this rack. Thorsten is still on the hill.

Ya you mean Chang broke  If Thorsten continues his form tomorrow he is favorite with Appleton to win whole thing. But there may be other party crashers LOL

Agreed. 8 ball is a thought provoking game to watch trying to figure out the pros patterns. 10 ball patterns are pretty straight forward but the pressure is high to not miss any shots.

Thorsten is first semifinalist . The other 2 players Corey and Chang with 1 win 1 loss can get 2 wins to tie with Thorsten but on tiebreaker they lost to him so they are both out. And Efren is out with 2 losses.

No wonder Thorsten pumped his fist when he won cos he is through to semifinals :D

Question I was thinking about: Since head-to-head is the first tiebreaker and since everyone plays everyone within the group why is there any need for the rack differential as a 2nd tiebreaker?

Yes actually the top performer of both 8 and 10 ball tourney until now (counting completed matches of this 8 ball tourney +all matches from previous 10 ball tourney)
Baby has only lose once- in 10 ball final to Big Ko. He has a 6-1 win loss record an 86% win %. IMHO He is a dark horse to win this 8 ball tourney :D

Win Loss Record (10 ball tourney + completed matches of 8 ball tourney)
Win Loss Win %
6 1 85.7% Ping-Chung Ko
4 2 66.7% Pin-Yi Ko
