I'm on freenode #billiards for a bit, come by and chat. You can get there by visiting my site in the footer of this post and click "live chat", put #billiards in as the room/channel.

Can someone help me make steeper cut shots with CTE? Sometimes I under cut the shot because, although I shoot the ball at the center of the pocket, it's blocked by the point on steeper cuts. Any advice on how to compensate for this?

Your mistake is where you are seeing center pocket. Don't look at the back of the pocket, but look at the points to find center pocket.

And, yes, CTE will also make steep cuts. You can check out Stan's you-tube channel to get a good idea of it.

You might try aiming more to the far side of the pocket openings.
Try aiming at where the ball wear lines run inside of the pockets.

You don't "aim at pockets" with any CTE I'm aware of. What are you using?

Yet he has been advise by Neil regarding the true opening of a pocket from the OB's perspective.

Whatever the aiming system you use... you need to aim somewhere. Aiming at a pocket is certainly not a bad idea.

.

He was specifically asking about steeper cut shots with CTE. If CTE really took you to the literal center pocket mark, you would never make a shot up the rail.

And also from PJ, what's your point or are you stalking Neil.

Are you staking me?

PJ has never said that CTE takes one to the shot line with a slight overcut so the OB goes into 'center pocket'.

I also don't think PJ has said that there is no need to even know where the pocket is.

If CTE is 'connected' to the table due to the 90*, how does it avoid the points on those types of shots?

Best Wishes.

As usual, Neil's right - the spot between the points is the real "center pocket" from any angle.

Selective reading Rick?

Take a billiard table with no pockets. Wedge a ball into the corner frozen to both rails. That ball is the "center pocket" target that works from anywhere on the table. On a table with pockets, imagine where the rails would meet and place a ball as if frozen to them. That is the target. Not the point where the rails meet. CTE gives you the aimline through that ball.

Not at all.

Reading comprehension issues, Cookie?

PJ is merely confirming the info. regarding the pocket opening.

That has nothing to do with the rest of the topic regarding CTE?

Best Wishes

How so & by what means?

CTE. I'm not rehashing the system here. Look it up.

Monty,

I realize that you intend this to be a 'chat' for like thinking minds for CTE but if you're going to make claims & assertions like your last sentence in your post that I quoted earlier, I would certainly think that you are going to get called on them.

I'm sure PJ & others will be along.

So...

I will just say that anyone that wishes to buy & try CTE should certainly do so, but should know that the assertion of it being an objective aiming method in nature has NOT been proven...

nor has it been unproven to those that believe it to be so.

Best Wishes, Monty.

It's fine to get called on, I'm just stating there is no need to beat a dead horse. This topic has been covered numerous times all over this forum. Furthermore, this thread has zero to do with the objectivity debate of CTE. I'm not trying to start an argument, and I understand you have concerns with how CTE is presented.

Do you honestly feel the need to post in every thread that mentions CTE? Are you trying to get yourself banned? (rhetorical question).

Hi Jon,

Monty initiated a PM conversation with me & PMd again just a short while ago.

You do not know everything that goes on.

When unproven assertions of this nature are made, 'someone' should post about them being unproven.

Do CTEers 'honestly feel the need to post' constantly those unproven assertions.

Thanks for your concern about my AZB well being, though.

Best Wishes.
