CTE and throw

Once upon a time, 832 pool players were taught an aiming system over the course of a year.

209 of them can’t remember the system a month later;

298 of them thought, as soon as they “learned it”: this is too complicated (or the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard of);

213 can’t make it work;

102 weren’t paying attention while the system was being taught because they were hitting on the hottie in the class;

Net gain: 10 new aiming system users.

Point being (for the slow ones out there): just because someone is “taught” something does not mean they: buy into it; learn it; retain it; use it; and use it successfully.

"Once upon a time", you really are in the land of fairy-tales Lou. Don't worry though, your handsome prince Sir Patrick will be along soon to help you. Seriously all those people learning CTE everyweek but no-one on here putting it down except you, pj, and a couple of your loyal followers. It really is ok if you do not want to try it but why all the negativity for something that so many are having success with? Doesn't make sense.

"...something that so many are having success with"

Stop it. You're killing me.

how do you guys
dream this stuff up?

Well, if you want substantiation, there is plenty in the forums. Not to mention my pm box, or better yet, Stans mailbox. ;) Just because you want to think only a couple people actually use it, doesn't make it so.

You don't want to bet PMs and emails on this. Trust me ;-)

And there is Exhibit A of your second mistake -- trying to group *me* in with the "non-believers" or doubters, just because I'm pointing out a flaw in your approach that's causing the ire in the first place. Who said anything about me "wanting to believe only a few users are using it"? Not I, but you certainly did.

Yeah. Get on the PA at any major tournament and ask, "OK, campers: who in this room is using CTE this tournament?"

.............................................................................................................

........and just wait for all the blank looks and crickets, lol :-)

You would be surprised who actually is Lou. Plus, what the heck difference does it make if all or none of them are using it?? Same old rhetoric. Why do you and others always feel a need to knock it or its users any time it's even mentioned? What's it to you how other people want to aim??

You know, if you spent half the posts you make knocking CTE actually making posts on how others could improve, this place would be a lot better.

I don't care who uses it. It's all the unsubstantiated hype about "thousands" (Cookie) and "hundreds" (you) of players using it that I think is objectionable. At least challenging youze guys has you moving in the right direction with your numbers :-)

If you and others wouldn't toss all these bs numbers around I think there could be peace in the valley.

You questioned the numbers Lou, so I gave you facts, and do you really believe that if we got rid of the numbers there would be peace in the valley? Get real. Accept that people are using it successfully, but its not for you and move on.

Ok, never used CTE, never defended it or argued against it, but I do know they have instructors that teach it, they have DVD's for sale, and I would have to think if folks are paying for this "help" they actually might be using this "aiming" system.

So hundreds or even thousands really can't be an exageration amongst the hundreds of thousands that play pool, can it ?? I mean, if they said a million or even tens of thousands,well, maybe we got ourselves an argument, but hundreds or even thousands, now it looks we are trying to find something to argue about just a little bit.....

People are "taught" all kinds of things. I watched an episode of Rachel Ray's "30 Minute Meals" the other day and was "taught," or if you prefer "learned" how to make a great five-spice tenderloin. But now, a few weeks later, I can't remember the recipe and will probably never make it.

Getting the lesson does not equal adopting what was taught.

Just because people take a lesson or buy a DVD (I bought it) does not mean they internalize the information and system, can make it work, and see enough benefit for themselves to actually use it. Ask around any major tournament, "Who is using CTE?" and you will get nothing. Ask some of the pro players directly and they will laugh in your face about it.

People buy this guys books. Shall we defend him?
