CTE discussion !

By me for one, but also by others who have thought it through. Here's the gist of it:

No matter where you try to hit the CB, if you hit it a little too far to the right or left you'll miss your intended target by the same amount and in the same direction and your side spin will be off by the same amount and in the same direction. Favoring one side or the other over centerball doesn't change this.

Also, it's not true that the center of the CB can't be hit exactly, especially exactly enough for side spin and squirt to be negligible. There's no good reason to avoid it. Improve your stroke instead.

I thought it was Jewett and Shepard that proved that it was near impossible to hit the cue ball dead center with consistency. However, I could be wrong. I know for myself I have always favored hitting the ball from the inside. Maybe that is because my eyesight is so bad! It has always worked for me though...even when I could see.

PS: "I didn't mean to say you're nonsensical" I know that PJ, you have always been a gentleman in your responses!

Frankly Stan, I really don't care about your opinion. My personal best was in the 70's and I stopped playing 14.1 when my friend Dan Lawrence died: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=273912
Unlike you, I don't need a video to prove anything at all. I'm well respected amongst MY friends!

Ok. Stopped in the 70s

Knowledge and stroke should be intact.

You play a lot....just told Dave you are running racks.

Just run through 4/5 racks. That should be easy enough.

Again.....IMO You are not at or were never near pro level and I think your 140 something CLAIM is nothing but HOT AIR.

Like I said, who cares what YOU think!

I'm sure it's true that hitting exactly dead center is difficult - the point is that's not necessary in pool. "Close enough for pool" can be done consistently with a good stroke.

The larger point is that it doesn't matter even if true - an inaccurate hit has the same consequences no matter if you tried to hit centerball or off center. CJ in particular claims his TOI "system" limits your errors to one direction and magnifies margins of error - neither of these claims hold water (although trying to do that might increase your tip/ball accuracy).
