CTE/Pro One BANKING

I use Ron V's 90/90 system to bank and it works pretty well for me. In his system, there are really 3 shots I use...

Edge to edge - pivot to center of cb (thick hits)
Edge to center - pivot to center of cb (medium hits)
Edge to opposite edge - pivot to center of cb (thin hits)

All three of these finds me a pocket to cut a ball in.

I also have found that if I have a medium hit, I can setup for a "thin hit" and instead of pivoting to center, I pass center and use 2-3 tips of outside english to throw the ball in. (I was never taught this by Ron or anyone else, just figured it out for myself.)

This shot:

I know I can pocket this ball a few different ways.
1. right cb edge to right ob center - pivot to cb center
2. right cb edge to right ob edge - pivot to 2 tips of outside english
3. right cb edge to right ob edge - pivot to center (to bank cross corner)

At the same time, I can bank this ball:
left cb edge to left ob edge, pivot to center. Certain angles require a sense of feel (to me) and you sometimes have to add a tip of english or follow for the shot to work. After experimenting, you pick up on which shots need it and which shots wont. You also pick up on the speed required to use this system. More often than not, its at a softer speed.

I know its slightly different than cte/pro 1, but its fairly similar and works great.

I use Ron Vitello's 90/90 for banking as well. Interested to see how Pro one helps my banks. Good post as usual Cleary!

I envy you being able to learn it firsthand from Ron. I'm stuck with the telephone and internet for coaching. :(

Pivot systems are like a mirror image for banking. I've occasionally used them for two and three rail banks, too.

Best,
Mike

That is exactly what I was thinking. We know that the mirror image/double the distance method works for banking. That's established well enough. So since CTE puts you on the right line for the pocket then going to the opposite side of the object ball is essentially the same place that using the mirror image method would put you at.

I'd like to figure out how to use CTE for the two and three railers. I mean I will figure it out I just haven't tried yet.

JB. It's all right in front of us. 1-2-3 rails. I use SAME AIM when I play Golf(snooker table) and it's the nuts....SPF=randyg

A Golfer lol , It has been YEARS since I played Golf.
It is a great game  On a side note, I lost a Finals match last night
on a long bank in the corner, It double-kissed and sent the cb back at me and not touching a rail and scratched.
Hows that for a trick shot lol

John,
I remember how you play and the type of shots you shoot and using CTE/Pro One will be a blast for you.

When Stan's video comes out, give me a shout and we can compare notes.

You're going to love CTE/Pro One banking. I can almost guarantee it. :D

No,

with the 1st cuetable layout: right edge to right edge - pivot center
with the 2nd cuetable layout: left edge to left edge - pivot center

Yeah- I was looking at the 2nd layout when I asked that. I think it said right/right. Not a big deal, I just wanted to clarify for those learning the technique :)
