Who made this cue? What are the specs and the price?

The -R- stands for Jerry Rauenzahn. He is a well known cue maker. The cue is 19oz and comes with two shafts. One shaft has been played with for about 30 games of 8/9 ball total. All white is ivory. The cue was finished and shipped new in May 2008. The price is $2,400 plus ship/ins. However I can deliver it to Valley Forge this weekend to save the ship/ins costs.

Opps! looks like Mr Prewitt has got competition........

I had asked Jerry to make this cue and model it after a Prewitt cue that I liked very much. He agree to this and also notified Prewitt of this and also sent him pic's.

I don't know if Jerry will be making more of these b/c he does much of his work by "hand" . I believe he said he inlaid all of the paua shells using a dial indicator to locate each shell. As you may know he also does his veneers by hand as far as I know.

Prewitt Agreed?

Jerry makes a fine cue, but I am surprised that Ed Prewitt would agree to this.

This is what R told me directly. I doubt he would make this up.

There's no problem with any cuemaker trying to copying Ed Prewitt's work. He says: "if they want to do it and think it's easy, let them have at it." Jerry told me of the cue when it was in production and sent photos after the cue was done. I forwarded the photos to Ed. Ed was humored but in no way, shape form or fashion did he ever approve of, collaborate, or advise Jerry on the copy cue. The design had been done over the years in some form already by Ernie Gutierrez, Bill Stroud, Gus Szamboti, and Tad Kohara. Prewitt refined and sharpened the design. He also added by the paua dot fancy rings or in some cases, fancy paua shapes in the deco rings. The cue looks nice IMO, but it is not an Ed Prewitt cue. It is a Jerry R cue. Nothing wrong with that.

Wow, this cue would be a complement for that other cue with the nice Silver ring work, and ivory inlays.

Naw. I am not into the "hey this cue maker copied that cue maker this and that etc etc."

I like to see an nice cue come out from anyone. And i think Jerry did a very nice job on this one. And i also think it is very generous of Mr Prewitt. That in my opinion is class.

Bump for you and good luck in your sale.

How many actual new ideas are there out there , that no one has never done. I think everything you do is copying something someone has done at one time or another. I think Jerry did a fantastic job of building a very beautiful cue. Jim

This is one of the nicest -R- cues I've ever seen personally

Those mitered box veneers and inlays on the butt are awesome and the forearm points, veneers and inlays look fantastic! Of course the joint rings are gorgeous too!! Exceptional cue Jerry :thumbup2:

IMHO, this is a very tasty cue and a definite complement to any cuemaker who ever used any of these design ideas previously in any of their cues :winknudge:

Just for the record I have not indicated in any way shape or form that this is a EP cue. Nor would I even think to present this cue as anything but what it is. And what it is is a beautiful cue made by JR for me.

Bump

A bump for one hell of a nice cue. I love the ringwork, it's a great touch.

Good luck with the sale,

R.S.
