I don't know about you guys but from what I've seen some of us are indeed addicted to cue collecting. I may be a late bloomer, been playing for 20+ years but just started collecting, but I definately have started heavy lol. I think I already have 100+ cues ranging from mid 1850s to current date and pretty evenly spaced. Some people play poker and call folks all in on a bet, I see a cue and check my wallet and it seems like the right call. So that being said, I'm proud to be an addict :D I just played with my latest cue and I think I may have found the right stick for me. For myself, it is a path that leads to my favorite hit, gotta try me all before I can finally find what suits my taste! I wonder what caused you guys to start collecting....

After trying all those cues; what are you shooting with right now?

Be very careful & manage your addiction well. Letting it get out of hand will land you in a shop full of equipment & wood, building your own cues. Ask me how I know....

I am currently shooting with a full splice Purple Heart hoppe style cue that I cannot identify yet, it is a handmade cue that hits phenomenal and since I picked it up I have truly fallen in love. I have to admit that after hitting with so many cues I have a few that I really like the hit on, 1915~ brunswick two piece fitted with ivory ferrule and joint, a vintage sampaio one piece, and the good ole 26 1/2(all of which are original unaltered cues). I'm also fairly certain that I don't like low deflection shafts at all.

And qbilder I think you are absolutely correct, I've got a ton of exotic and regional lumber that doesn't quite suit bass building but will work perfect for cues :D

Heck, might as well give it a go.....

I've got a Player's HXTE10 that I'm not using that I'll sell for a good price.

Bet you don't have one in your collection....yet.

I'm kind of a Precision Bass -type guy, myself.

I too have fallen prey to the addiction. I have over 40 cues ranging in age from new to over 40 years old. I currently shoot with an Olney six point. My second favorite would be a Jensen. I love the hit on both but I'm needing a Jensen shaft with a larger tip. My friends think I'm nuts but they all come to me for advice.

3 and counting, I'm just a noob collector, they make great investments just ask mÿ wife about the 2 she doesn't know about

Its great to know about you all guys have a passion of collecting cues! Though I love to collect custom and antique cues, don't have much with me.

I used to have too many, but like most things, IMO, it is better to have quality verses quantity.

I probably have too many guns, coins, and cues. But over the years I have tried to reduce the number and get better (higher end).

When I was 5 years old I went to the coin shop and tried to "fill holes", and not buy the best. I still have all those coins from 45 years ago, but if I had known anything, I would have bought only 1 coin every time I went to the coin shop instead of 20 lower end coins to "fill holes". Those higher end coins have gone up considerably, where the low grade coins are probably still worth what I paid for them 45 years ago.

My advice, is always buy quality over quantity. That's true in guns, coins, and cues. Nobody ever told me this, and I wish I had learned it years ago, on everything I bought, or at least most of it.

So when someone tells me that they have 100 cues, my first reaction is they are "filling holes". ;);)

Ken you nailed that one on the head! I started out with just a z shaft that I had an old house cue butt mated to. I proceeded to buy a bunch of old decent brunswick house cues, then on to low end two pieces, managed to round up plenty of crap cues and got a couple really nice ones in the mix. As of late I have redirected my collection towards nicer stuff, I'd say my last 10 have been stellar additions :) I actually don't regret the crap either, they are valueble lessons that have led me to be more knowledgable about my acquisitions. Ironically my addiction led to buying books, probably going to hold off on cues for a minute(or so I'd like to think lol) :)

I'm an addict

I'm an addict but I only buy cues I think are either really beautiful or ones I really would enjoy playing with. Hence I only own about ten cues and play with four. All of which are made by people who's names would be recognized. I don't display them and not many people know I have them, but I enjoy them for the art and precision they represent.

Hi everyone! My name is Jason and I'm a cue addict. I just bought a predator cue even though I hate the way they feel. I bought it because:

1. My new custom is about another month out.

2. Guido Orlandi had to take my player back with him to do some work.

3. I think it is a fun novelty product.

I only have one night of league night left to play before a couple months break until summer league and I have another cheap cue that shoots just fine but what the hell. I only maxed out my last credit card to get it.

I will also be buying a reaper jump cue this week because I have a hard time doing very close jumps with my Brick j/b. I feel I need a lighter cue for very close jumps and this one is very light and looks cool.
