I'm thinking the butt of the cue needs to be on the other side of yellow arrows and angled across the CCB in order for the CB to travel down the spotted arrow path.
Without doing the experiment myself, I suspect a miscue.
Here is a way to have more control and do that shot with accurate offset and speed control: Shoot the cue ball at the cue stick. Place the cue stick on supports like folded towels or rubber pads to get the tip at the right height. Place the cue ball close to the tip so you know where contact will take place -- 1 mm separation should be OK. Place an object ball close to the cue ball on the equivalent line you want for the stick motion. Using a second cue ball or an object ball, shoot straight along the OB-CB line to drive the cue ball into the stick.
The hard part of doing the test this way is to figure out the speed and direction the CB would have had in the translated frame of reference.
